UNITED striker Alan Smith says Leeds need to start believing in themselves again, and a good run of results before the end of the season could help do just that. Under Peter Reid The Whites record reads won one, drawn one and lost one, and whilst it hasn't satisfied the new manager, Smith can see more points heading their way if they can keep up the performances shown against Charlton and Spurs. "We have to get up the table," said Smithy in the United matchday programme, who also revealed how much he's enjoying his partnership with Mark Viduka upfront. "Everyone is full of confidence after the Charlton result and performance so there is no reason why we can't go on a good run. "We have a lot of quality players at the club. Much of the current squad is made up of players who got us to fourth in the Premiership and the semi-finals of the Champions League. People should remember that. "Charlton are a good team but being Leeds United, we should be going to places like that and beating them. We all know that. We need to get it to the front of our minds that we are a big team and have a lot of good players. "It is important that we believe in ourselves." Peter Reid's take on the situation he found at the club when he first arrived was that players were not putting everything into their game purely because they weren't enjoying their football anymore. He's made a few changes in training to change that, and is now looking for more confident displays to see out the rest of the season. "I've been running around the pitch with the players and having a laugh at times," said Reid. "I've been trying to impress on them the need to enjoy training, and it's all been short and sharp and with the ball at all times." "I've said it before, but there is an awful lot of quality here. You should see some of the finishing sessions and the way the ball hits the back of the net." Mattmightsay with all the leeds united news 24/7!! ;D www.leedsunited.com
