I'm waiting to see how this is presented in Canadian news tonight...I know there's been a lot of support for the 'remain' side. I can't believe the OUT side has gone this far.
Is a lot of this support for OUT to do with fear over immigration? Seeing as the UKIP and Tories are behind it, I'm guessing so?
(apologies if this is a old ground being retread again. I'm still catching up on what the implications will be)

Was confident of a win, now they've possibly bottled it. This is Britain's Al Gore moment. And Leave winning is the George W Bush moment. That worked out well didn't it....... (sorry Beady's Mighty Eye!). Actually worse. Electing Bush was a short term problem (there was a possibility he'd only be president for four years). And even so, it wasn't clear what president he would be and it was pre-9/11. I don't think anyone could have predicted, at the time, what was coming. Pre-9/11 and good economy. The UK should be well abreast of the consequences. Their decision is far worse with further and longer reaching implications. I'm still shocked that a few countries' entire economies came down to a referendum vote. In America, we use referendums for whether we want new parking meters. I couldn't imagine a decision of that great a magnitude being dependent on whether you'd get decent turnout for your side. An entire economy left up to chance and the nature of the average citizen. That's like us leaving our bail out votes during our recession to referendum. It boggles the mind.

A shameful decision.
For the first time in my adult life I am genuinely afraid for the future.

A shameful decision. For the first time in my adult life I am genuinely afraid for the future. Most important moments in history pass without a notice. It's only with reflection and time we realize how important that moment was. It is rare when a flash point is created. When we know that everything has changed, and it may never be the same again. This is one of those moments.

Can't put how crap I feel with this result into words (actually I can and have in Facebook messages, but it would probably get either massively edited, playpenned or deleted here with the swearing and stuff...)
Just focussing on this, Farage saying this is a win for 'real people'. So 48-49% of voters aren't real?. This country is no longer united in any way. Everyone's jumping into the volcano with glee.

I've been following the morning news since 7 this morning. The result didn't surprise me, but still I'm disappointed.
If I was a Scottish or Northen Irish, I would have voted yes for independent Scotland or Northern Ireland, but this referendum was an another story. Are the people who voted for leave are so naive that they can build the wall to no refugees and immigrants enter the country if they leave EU? And many elder "leave" voters surely forgot that immigrants have been the foundation for British economy for centuries, didn't they?

Also British migration is only made up of 50% of EU countries so jeez this is bad

A shameful decision. For the first time in my adult life I am genuinely afraid for the future. I was already afraid for the future because our economy here in Italy still hasn't recovered, and the various governments of clowns which we had (and we still have) in the last 4-5 years didn't help at all. Now this... I'm watching TV and many people are panicking, they fear that this thing will drag us down even more. What the hell, UK!

My god, didn't realise there were so many drama queens on these boards, all this doom and gloom nonsense. As a British national who lives in the EU and works for a business in the UK, whose salary is paid in pound sterling, perhaps you will forgive me for being apprehensive about the effect of this vote on mine and my family's lives; not to mention the lives of people in the UK and all over Europe who now face real challenges: threats to their job security and to their rights, cuts to public services, and the increasingly pervasive voice of the far-right, to name a few. Be careful what you wish for.
