Supersonic is the best rock tune ever, and you might think this is in the wrong thread, but the chorus is so good that it actually swallows up the rest of music whole.

I was really hoping the Smashing Pumpkinsā Machina reissue would have been released by now, but I guess it will come when it comes. I just love listening to that album in June.
I find Iām very into enjoying certain albums at certain times. I can listen to them whenever I want but I feel theyāre maximally enjoyed at a certain time.

Any fellow Prefab Sprout obsessives here? Yes! Massive fan of Steve McQueen/Two Wheels Good and also Jordan: The Comeback. Paddy McAloon is a hell of a songwriter. Though in some ways they are albums from my past, every time I spin them now I'm shocked at how fresh and alive they still sound (and how every single line of some songs remains etched in me.)

I have a greatest hits cd by Prefab Sprout (daft name for a band) but I haven't listened to any of the songs from it for a long time.

Most heavenly piece of music = the piano solo in "Pink Moon".

Black Midi have officially peaked my interest. They're difficult to categorize but I've heard people associate them with Prog Rock, Math Rock, Post Punk, King Crimson, Talking Heads, Black Country New Road, and a whole tonne of other stuff too. Very skilled, technical instrumentalists (the drummer is fantastic), very weird vocals, very much not for everyone. I'm yet to properly delve into their stuff (it's not the easiest) but I absolutely LOVE 'John L'. Absolutely bonkers stuff. Totally agree with all the Primus comparisons. Probably my track of the year along with Squid's 'Narrator'.
Speaking of very weird vocalists I found this song from a Norwegian band called Pom Poko the other day too (from last year) which I'm also very much enjoying. Chorus rips.

Seen they've got an album out, listened to it yet? I like them, not something I listen to regularly but if I'm in the mood and I put them on they don't disappoint, first record was really good

I've heard 'Near DT, MI' and '953' and both of them seem good so fingers crossed.

Is it cringe to like The Whole of the Moon? By the Waterboys? Not at all, I like it too.

I'm old enough to remember The Whole Of The Moon by The Waterboys when it was first released back in the 80s and I always liked it back then.

Do we class Wolf Alice as 'Shoe Gaze'?
I don't listen to Shoe Gaze but feel like, based on the description, it matches.
Class band, by the way. If you haven't heard of them, check them out.

Iāve always loved The Kinks but Iām really enjoying re-discovering their albums from 1966 (face to face) to 1972 (muswell hillbillies)
In particular, the 1969 album Arthur, which features their big hit Victoria. But in my opinion the real winner on that album is Shangri-La. it really showcases Ray daviesās penetrative insight in his songwriting.

It's fun having a friend who's as passionate about music as you are. Particularly the craft and sequencing of a good playlist. Having fun swapping some, while writing gloriously pretentious descriptions of them to get the mood across. Here's mine for this week:
TAVERNS, GHOSTS, AND TOBACCO Please find enclosed a playlist called "Taverns, Ghosts, and Tobacco". It's to be played when (and only when) you stalk the muddy, fog-swamped streets of a distant harbour town. You will search for shelter under a salt-scented moon, with a deck of cards in your sleeve and a cube of brown tobacco on the ridge of your tongue. Every tavern has a ghost. Every ghost has a secret. Every secret has a future. You have until the music ends.
1. Zollie's Retreat - Tyler Childers 2. Last January - The Twilight Sad 3. Cemeteries of London - Coldplay 4. Scarlet Town - Bob Dylan 5. Garbage - Aesop Rock 6. If Only Tonight We Could Sleep - The Cure 7. Leave Her, Johnny, Leave Her - Alan Doyle

Iām going to attempt a top 12 (because I donāt believe 10 is ever enough) Something better beginning Tired of waiting All day and all of the night Where have all the good times gone? Set me free Til the end of the day This is where I belong Two sisters Waterloo sunset Do you remember Walter? Shangri la Strangers This time tomorrow And thatās not even going into the later years, which I really enjoy too! How about yours?

Another rainy day, another opportunity to try experiencing driving around with an album in the rain.
Todayās contestant: disintegration by The Cure.
Seems like such an obvious choice but Iāve never tried it. And guess what - it made an incredible album even better. Highly recommended. The rain pounding whilst Plainsong, Closedown, Homesick play is like how the music was meant to be experienced. Best tracks this time: The Same Deep Water As You, and Prayers for Rain.

Most of all this song.
