What was the last band you saw live before Covid 19? Mine I believe was Lagerstein, Basement Canberra. The day their alcohol licence nearly got revoked (beer bongs are a no no) Liam in Amsterdam in February this year. I've only been to 2 gigs this year and it remains so. I have rescheduled gigs next year though. It was Liam in Berlin for me as well, a month before lockdown, fortunate timing I guess. Missed out on Thom Yorke and Pearl Jam in the meantime though.

It's different from the more folk-based approach she took for Stranger in the Alps but it's upbeat and inviting yet still has kind of a dark sheen to it. Those trumpets are really tasteful and those guitars come and go at the right points. Phoebe's aesthetic is also cool for how she doesn't take it too seriously and just has fun (especially with the little details like the guy in the background lol). It kinda felt like she was doing karaoke to her own song at first

It kinda felt like she was doing karaoke to her own song at first I only know a few songs from her, and while those songs are nice (especially "Motion Sickness"), I feel like "Kyoto" is a step above in the songwriting. Probably it's more "pop" than her other songs. It reminds me a bit of Elliott Smith poppier moment off "XO" and "Figure 8". I like the way the song is built, with these almost percussive ,repetitive melodic phrases of the verses and the huge interval she does at the start of the chorus. That chord change around 2:32 is really beautiful. Btw, this guy did a nice piano cover. Really shows the melancholy of the tune.

This is the one that features a young Jason Pierce correct? I love Spiritualized so I have to give his earlier endeavors a look.

You're probably familiar with Pete Kember's work too who's produced MGMT's 2nd album, Beach House's 7, Panda Bear's Tomboy, etc. The first two albums are still missing but luckily the Northampton demo tapes (Taking drugs to make music to take drugs to) and Forged Prescriptions are there. The former is very Stooges and VU influenced droney music and I personally prefer the production over the actual album. After that they went even more into the droney, Suicide influenced direction and found their thing with minimalist psychedelia.

Listened to the new Fontaines D.C. album for the first time and they're definitely one of the best things that have come out in the last 5 years That post-punk sound mixed with the classic irish sense for a good melody make for a great combination A Lucid Dream, You Said and No are the standout tracks for me

I think they're more approaching their songs to be hypnotic.
