Speaking of new material from recently reformed bands, is Ride still together? Where's a new EP or LP Andy?

Have Sigur Rós released that reissue of Ágætis byrjun yet? Think this is rapidly turning into a BHN reissue situation.

Today I thought for a second, I should write something about my emotional chaos, but then I listened to Heaven Knows I'm miserable now and realised the lyrics were already written better than I ever could. Thanks Moz.

Don't know why I thought about this, but I just realized Blur have 4 consecutive album covers of things moving in motion at a speedy pace.

As you might imagine, I'm rather partial to a bit of Complete Banker as well. Could easily have been too on the nose, a song condemning bankers greed in the wake of a global recession, but Hannon's much too clever to fall into that trap.

I hope that Nick Cave will come back after the tragic death of one of his sons. I believe he will never stop creating art.

1. Without You I'm Nothing 2. Black Market Music 3. Placebo 4. Meds 5. Sleeping With Ghosts 6. Loud Like Love 7. Battle For the Sun
Also - beating competition from Coldplay, Gorrilaz, Gnarls Barkley, Oasis, Sigur Ros, Arcade Fire, the aforementioned Placebo and others, this would be my pick for best pop song of the twenty-first century (so far):

And the video too, although it's a bit extreme in parts.

They recently released a b-side album for the first three albums, which are worth getting.

Their first three albums are great IMO - not a single weak track to be found, except perhaps "Swallow" or "Haemoglobin", but they're still pretty good. Sleeping With Ghosts was solid with great singles and Meds was pretty good too - both are less unique then their earlier work though. They really started to decline after Hewitt left. There's about five songs I listen to regularly off their last two albums. For them to make great music/albums again, they have to really reinvent themselves. I think an album full of dark, electro-rock tunes like "Taste in Men" would be cool, if they don't go in a totally new direction. I've been listening to a lot of their b-sides recently, Slackerbitch should definitely have been on Placebo.

i love this album. i use definitely maybe and morning glory as measuring sticks for greatness and i would put this album right up there with either of them. not a weak track on it. my ratings track by track: 1- texture 10/10 2- i want to touch you 9/10 3- black metallic 10/10 4- indigo is blue 10/10 5- she's my friend 8/10 6- shallow 8/10 7- ferment 10/10 8- flower to hide 9/10 9- tumble down 8/10 10- bill and ben 9/10 11- salt 8/10 12- balloon 7/10 rob dickinson's soft, cool vocals splashed on top of the brash wall of guitars works brilliantly. i hope to own a vinyl copy of this some day but they are rare. according to this article a reunion almost happened back in 2008, but a couple of the members supposedly wanted no part of it: blastecho.com/catherine-wheel-nearly-reunited-could-down-the-line/i'm hoping for a 25th anniversary re-release of ferment next year with a tour, or maybe a 30th anniversary release and tour in 2022.
