Brainstorm Interlude is a fucking MONSTER!! Most importantly - Nick McCabe is a f*cking monster. Also, Pete's drumming is underrated, and that track shows it.

What's Owen Morris doing these days other than supervising reissues that will never be reissued? Lurking this forum with an evil smile on his face (no offence, Mr. Morris).

jupi, thanks for the heads up, I've never heard of My Vitriol until now. Will check 'em out. Glad you liked it. The band's discography is pretty limited considering they've been around since 1999: Delusions of Grandeur (demo) (1999) Finelines (2001) Betweenthelines (B-sides collection) (2002) 2nd album recordings (leaked) Cast aspersions (live album) (2006) This Time CDS (2007) A Pyrrhic Victory EP (2007) The Secret Sessions CD (to be released within a month or so, only via Pledgemusic) Many people hail Finelines as their ultimate peak but I'm a fan of the more recent stuff. The Pyrrhic Victory EP and the leaked material have kept me following them. Most of the leaked stuff will be released in re-recorded form on The Secret Sessions and "the official second album" will follow later on a major label. So if you want to go straight to the deep end, join the Pledgemusic campaign before it closes!

And I must be an acrobat To talk like this and act like that. And you can dream, so dream out loud And you can find your own way out. And you can build, and I can will And you can call, I can't wait until You can stash and you can seize In dreams begin responsibilities And I can love, and I can love And I know that the tide is turning 'round So don't let the bastards grind you down.

George Martin, known as the Beatles' legendary producer and often referred to as the 5th Beatle, passed away. He died at the very respectable age of 90 years old. This comes as a complete shock. His contributions to popular music of today are perhaps unrivaled by anyone, even the Beatles themselves, who undoubtedly needed someone with his musical genius to get their feet on the ground. May he rest in peace.

Happy to know that The Wind and The Wave are going ahead with their next album after being dropped by their record label. I loved their debut and this is one of my favorite songs from last year:

great Aussie band, basically Luke Steele one man show. He's probably more known for Empire of the Sun. But for me The Sleepy Jackson debut album Lovers is a neglected masterpiece and the best thing he ever done. The whole album is a must hear.

A Sky Full of Stars isn't as bad of a song as some people have made it out to be. Sure they worked with Avicii, that does say "sell out" in some ways, but you can still hear many real instruments in it (acoustic guitar in the verses, electric guitar in the chorus and outro, piano all throughout), and beneath all of the EDM elements lies an alright song. Not one of Coldplay's best, but definitely a solid single and pop song.
On the flip side, however, the two track run of Every Teardrop is a Waterfall and Major Minus features two of their best songs. I love the presence of the electric guitars in both of those songs, and ETIAW is the perfect fusion between Oldplay and New Coldplay, while MM serves as a good bridge between the two eras.

Why would Keith Emerson shoot himself? Tragic. Not jumping to conclusions, but do you think his colon polyp had come back and much worse than before? It can happen (Great uncle Frank had similar with his heart and a tumor)

Has anyone else heard 'Spirit Of Eden' by Talk Talk? Recently discovered it and been listening to it constantly. If your a fan of early Verve, give it a listen. Hard to believe it was released in 1988.

What a random article with no rock solid source information or proof. If Jailer at the Ian Brown forum doesn't respond to this one then I'll get interested, but right now the hype train can stay at the station.
