So probably a competition giveaway. Yeah they just confirmed they're giving away a ticket to the Wembley gig on the 30th of July

They would never make up such a big thing if it was just that.

They would never make up such a big thing if it was just that. They've done it before tbf, as others have pointed out

Completely new to my ears. This is their KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas performance on 12/18/1995, taped from the 106.7 KROQ broadcast, not taken from Westwood One or the more recent 101.7 Boston Radio. Once again, Rodney Bingenheimer does the intro. And to think this has just been on Youtube for 4 years Nice find, thanks!

Listened to (What's the Story) Morning Glory before, in the background while I was internet shopping, and it blew my socks off all over again.
The spirit and energy of the recordings, the consistent greatness of the material, the impeccable rasp and yet purity of Liam's voice, the riotous racket of the guitars, Whitey's drumming... Even the mix is pretty good. Loud and crunchy and slightly fatiguing, sure, but clear-headed too and generally successful in what (I presume) they were going for. Unlike Be Here Now, there's still a nice amount of bass in the mixes, and the drums aren't muffled.
It's definitely my second favourite album of all time (behind Abbey Road and just ahead of 'The White Album' -- Definitely Maybe is probably my #4, though I'm not absolutely certain on that).
My favorite album of all time when I think about this subject more closely. I don't have to skip a song (not every song is perfect though). I like the mix too, I don't really find anything fatiguing or irritating about it. The album just flows so well and includes so many classic songs. It's also got the best cover art and photography.

I've been listening to Up in the Sky a lot again lately and suddenly realised how well it would fit on Revolver. I can really imagine Paul and John singing it in a kind of And Your Bird Can Sing way with the fuzzy guitars on it and Revolver sound. I think John would be great for lead vocals and Paul would be great for the bridge. I can hear it in my head so well. I don't like AI, but I wouldn't mind if someone would make a Beatles version of Up in the Sky.

Indeed it's very Revolver-era Beatles (which is maybe not coincidentally is my favourite Beatles album). It always reminds me of them riff driven Beatles songs from that 64-66 period like 'I Feel Fine', 'Day Tripper' and 'Paperback Writer' (which also inspired songs like 'Last Train to Clarksville' by The Monkees). Although I think the official release is definitely the best I thought the Monnow Valley version from the recent 30th anniversary version of Definitely Maybe had some nice Beatlesy touches, most notably Noel's backing vocals.

Up In The Sky is a tune. Although, I don't listen to it as much these days.
