But maybe a Whatever re-release ? With extra versions ? It was suspiciously off the DM 30th. Yet it was on the 25th !
I wouldn't mind hearing Noel's acoustic version that he said was very sad and intimate.

I’m old enough to remember when we all swore that “Slow” was gonna be a pre-gap song on SOTSOG. And in 2025 it’s stuck in the pre-gap of our minds.

He's keeping a lot of songs to milk re-release, obviously. But then, we'll find out the songs weren't that good to begin with. In 2005 or even 2002, Noel was desperate for good tunes.

I've just read on Stop Crying Your Heart Out that Mojo magazine have brought out another Oasis special which is available now. Yeah I got it a few days back. It’s pricey at £14 but zero ads in the 260 pages. A good read though I’ve already got numerous oasis special mags so it’s nothing I’ve not read before |

The Don’t Believe The Truth box set is gonna be a slog. Claims of 60+ songs written for it but Mucky Fingers and Meaning Of Soul were considered the better releasable tracks and little else was worth releasing solo in the following twenty years! |

He was first considering it as a bonus track on an Oasis best of but that got cancelled. As a result he was considering recording it solo. Obviously he hasn’t released it solo yet, so it’s definitely a contender for a new Oasis album. Early Oasis is so absolutely shoegaze-influenced, you can see the influence from Ride, MBV, Slowdive etc
Stuff like Alive, Cloudburst, Listen Up, Lock All The Doors, it's pure shoegaze rock 'n' roll and I'm mad fer it
The shoegaze influences never fade away, tho
Also, Put Yer Money Where Yer Mouth Is sounds just like Roadhouse Blues, you can see the Morrison influence in Liam's vocals and Noel's writing

I mean, it must be fantastic  (On the other hand I suspect Noel chose the shitty songs from his bandmates to keep control over things) |

Listened to (What's the Story) Morning Glory before, in the background while I was internet shopping, and it blew my socks off all over again.
The spirit and energy of the recordings, the consistent greatness of the material, the impeccable rasp and yet purity of Liam's voice, the riotous racket of the guitars, Whitey's drumming... Even the mix is pretty good. Loud and crunchy and slightly fatiguing, sure, but clear-headed too and generally successful in what (I presume) they were going for. Unlike Be Here Now, there's still a nice amount of bass in the mixes, and the drums aren't muffled.
It's definitely my second favourite album of all time (behind Abbey Road and just ahead of 'The White Album' -- Definitely Maybe is probably my #4, though I'm not absolutely certain on that).
We demand a top ten! I would if I could! I love pouring over top ten lists and the like, but I’m usually too indecisive to make my own. I don’t have a list of favourite films either. Or novels or plays or poems. The only lists I seem to be able to complete are really obscure ones, where the range of possible choices are severely limited. My top three albums is all I know for sure; they’ve been in place, in that order, going back to the 2010s. Definitely Maybe must be in, if not the top five, then the top ten. It’s got fucking ‘Slide Away’ and ‘Live Forever’ on it after all! But beyond that I find it hard to name many albums I love from start to finish, that I can put on any old time and never tire of (without just listing every Beatles release from 1965 to 1969). London Calling by The Clash has gotta be up there as well. If I see it through to the end, I always end up being impressed by the breadth of material on there. And it is one of the best sounding rock albums I’ve ever heard. |

The Record Collector special is due out any time now and I'm not sure if I'll buy it as I doubt there will be anything new in it that we don't already know. |

This is their KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas performance on 12/18/1995, taped from the 106.7 KROQ broadcast, not taken from Westwood One or the more recent 101.7 Boston Radio. Once again, Rodney Bingenheimer does the intro. And to think this has just been on Youtube for 4 years  |
