Wish I was born 10 years earlier. Must've been amazing buying an Oasis single in the 90s when they were released.

Wish I was born 10 years earlier. Must've been amazing buying an Oasis single when they were released. It certainly was RKID, but these times with Liam and Noel releasing stuff is also brilliant. 2017 was my second or third favourite 'Oasis' year ever, and I've been following fanatically since winter 1994.

Yeah, it was great buying all those Oasis singles especially in the 90s when cd singles still had four tracks on them. It's a shame that they changed the cd singles to three tracks after that.

I never understood the change (or maybe I forgot, its been about 21 years......). Having the extra track to me means I'm def gonna go get it.

I'm not too sure but I think it had something to do with the length of a cd single which was allowed in the charts or something. But I can't remember now. Maybe someone else on here will know.

One of the 'forgotten' Oasis songs I actually quite like is Who Put The Weight of the World On My Shoulders. One of the more heartfelt and honest tunes from latter Oasis I think. Rarely mentioned here, I suspect it's because quite a few think it's a bit boring (comparable to Sunday Morning Call in its vibe) and add to the fact it was part of that shite film Goal. But aside from a naff soundtrack release (that isn't available on Spotify or iTunes and fuck the idea of going out and buying the damn thing), it has never been given an official release. But I think it's a decent tune and deserves a higher pedestal than the other dull dreck they released around that time. I really like this, thanks for linking! Towards the end I realized Noel was reminding me of someone, and then I realized it was Chris Martin. Not a bad thing, though, I love Coldplay, and this was just a couple years after A Rush of the Blood to the Head. It feels like maybe Noel had some of the tracks off that album in mind when he sang this. And I second what someone else said about the strings - they add a richer, more orchestral sound in back of Noel.

The Southend gig is just timeless. It's how young the audience is that gets me. You can tell why they defined a generation, imagine being a teenager with a band that good on the scene. This was before WTSMG came out yet they were confident enough not to play two of their first five singles (Shakermaker and Whatever) from what I remember.

Just before the mania hit.

I was and it was fucking awesome. I missed out on the early live shows but bought everything on day of release since 1995. BUT I refuse to get into old man “it was better in my day” conversations. Bollocks. A Liam show now is everything I loved from Oasis, and the records today from him and NG are better than anything outside perhaps early Oasis (and those are there if you want them!).

If you think Oasis sounds bad, go listen to your music.
Double entendre.

I think in the early days at an Oasis gig there were a lot of young girls in the audience too.

It's 26 years ago today since the Cigarettes And Alcohol single was released. Of course that single features two great Oasis b.sides Listen Up and Fade Away. It's hard to believe that those songs will soon be 30 years old. And those two b-Sides stand as some of my all time favourite Oasis songs still to this day.

There's so many great b.sides and that's what made it special buying a new Oasis single.

Listen Up may come just after DLBIA for me Very few times I've felt a song could capture some of my feelings so well. The bridge is Noel's finest songwriting moment in my opinion, and it's one of those tunes I love sung by both brothers.

I can already see this happening at my eventual wedding: “Do you, Beady’s Here Now, take Mila Kunis (hypothetically), to live in holy matrimony?” “Madferit.”

It's 19 years ago today since Oasis played their second night at the Glasgow Barrowlands as part of their 10 Years Of Noise And Confusion tour. It doesn't seem that long ago.

The chart rules were about the overall length I believe. If you look at Arctic Monkeys for example, in 2009/2010 there were releasing singles with 4 tracks in total. I think after BHN Noel had just ran out of material and they made the right call to try and maintain quality over quantity. Not sure they managed that but that’s another story!

Doesn’t matter how much my musical tastes diversify, I always return. And it happens very naturally as well.
