Step Out has a lot of pitch correction? Up until reading your post five minutes ago, I didn’t realize there was a studio version of Step Out. For the last 20 years I’ve thought the only version we had was the Wembley 2000 performance. Had no idea this existed! 😳 That's mad lol.

Agree! This list also shows that Oasis is bigger than britpop (they didn't want to be part of it anyway), but britpop is also more than Oasis.

Yeah, I agree that Oasis are bigger than britpop. I remember Liam saying in interviews that Oasis were never britpop.

Whether they were Britpop or not, its great to see them up top there so dominantly, where IMO they belong.

Pretty sure Mark over at NME is alluding to the list in his new article about 'landfill indie'. It's based on physical and digital store sales by the way, no streaming. Figured there was going to be a lot of Oasis, just thought there was going to be more of the others in there because of how much airplay I've heard over the years listening to different UK radio stations.

Had a dream of driving through a small town at night while both Liam and Noel's solo stuff was playing in my car. It felt like I hadn't heard any of those songs in 10 years and when Whatever with Liam's more matured voice came on and it made me weirdly emotional.
Today I decided to give their music a spin for the first time in ages, starting with WMWN which I haven't heard since the release. I skipped Shockwave pretty quickly but other than that it's been great to listen to the album again.
The modern production was quite a shock though after just listening to Spacemen 3's demo tapes, it's weird how much goes missing when everything gets so polished. It's almost like there's a wall between me and the music and no matter how loud I play it the songs never sound loud enough. Songs like The River take the biggest hit because they're seemingly loud but all the rawness is missing. Looking forward to hear AYW though and see how I like it now, absolutely loved it when it was released. I don't think I've heard Noel's first two solo albums in a few years now either...
Even though I don't listen to Oasis and especially Gallaghers' solo music that much anymore they're still very important to me and it makes me melancholic to come back to these songs because I know a lot has changed. I still remember joining this forum and how big part of my life the band was but now all that seems to be in the past already. I've been moving on with my life maybe faster than I expected but at the same time it's been what I wanted too. I'm now the same age as Liam when WTSMG was released and even though I didn't realise it at the time in these past 4 years my life has turned upside down and I'm only now starting to see the changes properly.

Totally agree with that mate. The production of LG solo albums is way too much polished. I think the label wanted to play it safe, probably wanting to attract an younger audience or at least go beyond the Gallaghers fanbase. I still think that most people who buy Gallagher brothers solo albums are Oasis fans first so I don't think their strategy makes any sense. But since the sales figures are very good (Oasis fanbase is still huge in the UK), I think the label and producers are sadly going to keep it very safe.

Noel: You walk in to hotel foyers and you get everybody at it and you go "Pssst", knocking on people's doors...
Liam: I'm having the craic. It's not doing anyone any harm. That's me. John Lennon used to fuckin' burn about doing little mad things...
Noel: Do you know John Lennon?
Liam: Do you know him?
Noel: I don't, but do you?
Liam: Yeah.
Noel: Well, you must be pretty old. How old are you? 21?
Liam: No. About fuckin' thousand and five fuckin' one.
Noel: You're 22.
Liam: I'm 21.
Noel: Right. And remember, I watched you being born, and I don't even know John Lennon. So shut the fuck up about ‘knowing John Lennon.’
-From “Wibbling Rivalry”, 1995. This segment never gets old. 😂

The more I listen to Be Here Now, the more I sit between the two camps of people about the length of the songs. On the one hand, you type in "All Around the World Edit" on YouTube and you get someone who's got it down as a three-minute tune, and you just think "you must be on more drugs than the band were". And then you have people who think that anyone who wants the songs to be even marginally more concise is a shandy-drinking Blur fan. Going back to the original songs again, though, I'm convinced that what they need are a trim. Not a complete re-working, not a new ending, just a trim.
Take The Girl in the Dirty Shirt. The way that keyboard riff plays three times at the start, when two times would sound better. That non-descript "and now I see" bit after the first chorus. The way your ears are waiting for the high-pitched keyboard to come in ten seconds before it does in the outro. I did a version of the song last night that had it at 5:12 and made it a much more likeable tune while still being the song it is. I think that's what the album needs - a few cuts in places like Stand By Me's chorus or the outro of Gettin' Better (Man!!). Keep the album loud and long, just trim the bits where it gets annoying.

The verdict is in: They are a fucking good band.

I wish Oasis or rather Noel would release the sessions the band did with Death In Vegas for the Don't Believe The Truth album as I would love to hear these.

I’m jamming on YouTube to an epic 11 minute performance of Champagne Supernova, only to be interrupted in the direct middle of the song by a Verizon Fios commercial. 2020 truly is dystopian. Shameful.

I don't think we talk about this tune enough. Great energy, catchy verses, genius bridge, and a peak Liam vocal.

I don't think we talk about this tune enough. Great energy, catchy verses, genius bridge, and a peak Liam vocal. It's a lost classic, quietly forgotten to say it's the last proper full song recorded by Oasis Mark II, ie the best iteration of the band. I know SOTSOG was supposedly recorded with the same line up, but Noel recorded a lot of Guigsy's and Boneheads parts so it doesn't count. This song has all that I remember and love from the most bombastic era of the band. The wall of guitar sound that epitomizes the Be Here Now period, thunderous drums by Whitey, ridiculously good solos from Noel, catchy verses, and yes, an absolutely peak Liam vocal. Hell it's even got piano thrown in for good measure! The energy might be purely down to the coke they were all on at the time but hey, does it matter?? Superb stuff.
