Boy do I love hey now, what a tune! 😀 Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to recall an article from early '96 (bearded Liam era) where they reportedly played this live in the States.

They did sound check it and intend to play it in America in 96 but for whatever reason, it never happened. The only recording we have is the STC tour clip that’s just been posted.

Wonder why they axed it? Too slow? Or didn't sound right without the slide guitar part?

Wonder why they axed it? Too slow? Or didn't sound right without the slide guitar part? I've always felt that they tweaked the pacing in production, because if you play it on the guitar it can be a bit of challenge to get the pacing right to the album. It's just a bit off for some reason.

Looking for something else, I stumbled upon NME’s review of DBTT. The NME gave the album 3/5 (equal to 6/10). I found that hard to believe as DBTT was seen as a massive success. But I verified the date of the review, and the review itself and DBTT was indeed given a 3/5 rating. That’s unbelievable - the NME worship Oasis to say the least. I would have given DBTT somewhere around an 8/10 at the time, and although it hasn’t aged well, I’d still give it a 7/10 (maybe even 7.5 in four beers time), but 6/10 when all the other Big Reviewers scored it considerably higher? I’m not having that.

Listening to HC this evening and I must say: massive mistake to not put Liam on vocals for Force of Nature. With his snarl (and played a bit faster), that would have been a TUNE!

I hold the belief that Oasis split up the day Noel was attacked. I’m not at all saying the attack directly led to Oasis breaking up. I’m saying that it really shattered the mood, and the chronic pain Noel would feel for months would not only be debilitating but it would have put him in a massively negative headspace. If Noel wasn’t attacked, I don’t think Oasis would have split up. Yes, the band’s dynamics just prior to the attack weren’t great, but everything was manageable. The attack then made everything unmanageable. Fuck you, Sullivan. 🖕

And if it was a catalyst then they would've splitted anyways whether one week later or years down the road.

I'm paraphrasing, but the reporter asked him if he'd ever write a book - he said no. The reporter said that he did a pretty decent job of doing the blog posts. Noel said SOMETHING LIKE 'oh yeah... I'd forgotten about that. It would be absolutely fascinating to read them back from the last tour'. Leaving someone like me to infer that something happened on the tour, rather than before. Could well be after the attack.

DBTT was actually my favourite oasis album for a while.......must say, its second from bottom now (HC at the bottom). Its just very boring to me now.
DOYS is a much more interesting album all things considered.

I woke up this morning with a bit of a headache that still hasn’t gone away. As much as I love and wanted to listen to BHN, it was probably not the best choice for today.
But I did it anyways.

From the posts one could guess Noel was enjoying the tour (even after the attack). I could only find 4 "negative" entries, the first one being maybe the turning point? 3rd May 2009, before the River Plate gig:"We speak at bad times for the Oasis tour. Bad times. We are a rudderless ship at the minute. And there's a fuckin' shit-storm on the horizon. I guess all will be revealed in due course. Strange atmosphere." "I wouldn't mind but we're in South America! Playing massive stadiums and there's a bit too much hrmph-ing going on for my liking. Shame really." 8th July 2009, after Coventry gig:“Bruno (Liam) seemed determined, and I mean DETERMINED that no one, and I mean NO ONE was gonna enjoy themselves.” 22nd July 2009, after the Roundhouse gig:“That gig at was… erm… very odd. What’siz’name (Liam) exploded with pretend rage the minute he walked on. Strange cat. Probably on his man period" 22nd August 2009, after V Festival:"Boo! Just come off stage at V in Stafford. And I don't mind admitting that I didn't enjoy it one bit. Dunno know. Couldn't get into it. Very strange.”

I seem to remember Liam posting a tweet at the time as well. Something about him, Andy and Gem playing a gig on their own or something. Can't remember.
