Recalling the outrage from many when they thought the Falling Down remix by the Chemical Bros was the album version. Good times.

I like that remix - apart from the migraine inducing sound just prior to the piano part. That piano interlude is incredible, though - wish it was prominent on the studio version.

Was listening to Stay Young earlier on and wow, I think it's the best sounding song to come out of the BHN recordings. Alan's cymbals aren't wince inducing and you can actually hear the different guitar elements. Was that tracked at Abbey Road? I'd like to hear whatever else came out of those sessions if so.

Do Oasis break up in 2009 if the onstage attack didn’t happen?
I’m not so sure. It propelled Noel into absolute misery (understandably), making the tour incredibly dark. The pain and trauma Noel went through meant that he was unable to be patient with Liam’s normal antics as Noel sought to separate himself from the rest of the band.
Maybe Oasis should have cancelled the DOYS tour after the attack. Go back into the studio for the 8th album after Noel had a rest and then toured again following the 8th album’s release.

I'm not so sure tbh I think Noel's reaction to the backstage fight in Paris was more a combination of becoming worn down from years of arguments and as I have posted before also his lack of pharmaceutical drugs. The bloke reacting in Paris was probably the real Noel who without chemical influences over the years would have walked off for good in past instances. If a clean and sober Noel without both the anxiety of coming off narcotics and being on mood altering prescriptions had been involved in that Barcelona altercation in 2000 then I think there is a good chance solo careers or new bands would have happened ten years or so before they did. That theory has also interested me in how the brothers profiles, still tabloid mainstays around that period, would have perhaps helped either achieve bigger successes in a pre-downloads near total wipeout of sales era.

Yes they still would have, I believe Noel was already wanting to leave before Dig Out Your Soul had even finished recording (the failed recordings in the studio etc probably cemented this in his mind)

You lost me a bit: Was Noel on prescription pain pills after the 2008 attack?

You lost me a bit: Was Noel on prescription pain pills after the 2008 attack? I don't know about Paris sorry, I was talking about his prescription meds during the SOTSOG era. The point I was (obviously badly) trying to make was that Noel as far as I am aware was more or less straight in 2009, and so I think his reaction to the backstage fight in Paris, i.e. quitting for good, was how he would have probably reacted in other eras had it not been for narcotic or prescrip drugs affecting his judgement/mood such as in the SOTSOG era. Hope this makes a bit more sense!

I do think it’s an interesting question to ask though, regarding the impact of the attack on the band’s chemistry as a whole.

Chandler introducing Oasis and then Liam smashing it with Don't Go Away is literally perfection to me. 😍

It’s not like the song would be noticeably longer...? It’s the best part of DGA, for fuck’s sake.

Love Like A Bomb is absolutely awful. I really wish this was re-recorded, or mastered, or mixed, or something. The song itself isn't terrible, but I'll be damned if they recorded something worse than this.

I was listening to Stay Young the other day and thought the exact opposite. I mean I get what you're saying, the lead sound is very nice but the rhythm guitar in the background sounds like a fucking vacuum cleaner.

Love Like A Bomb is absolutely awful. I’ve always liked LLAB - love when the piano kicks in. It’s a nice track to play in the late Spring, as is the rest of DBTT mind.

Heathen Chemistry (2002) is easily Oasis’ worst album but even that had The Hindu Times, Little by Little, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, and Songbird - four phenomenal singles. Top band.

All of those are good and could have been great, but the band was confusing back-to-basics for half-arsed at the time. "Basics" for Oasis was loud layers of distorted guitars, simple drums, and great solos - the demo version of The Hindu Times is the only thing that comes close to that from the HC era, and it's easily the best thing about it.

I'll never get what the problem with Heathen Chemistry is, I've always enjoyed it and except for just 2 (3 including quick peep) have always played it straight through and thought the flow of the album was one of the strongest they released
