When I die can someone please scatter my ashes over London while playing Oasis’ Live Forever. It’s what I would have wanted. Thanks.

Anyone know when Noel moved down to Chiswick? Any clues would be much appreciated as it would help date things within the Oasis timeline. I think Noel has said that Some Might Say was the first song he wrote after moving there with only his guitar and Adidas bag. As far as we know, the earliest recording of the song is sept 94, played in Quattro club Nagoya sound check (as we've got on the MG reissue). I think Chiswick was the first place Noel lived in London, so I guess July-aug 1994 would be my guess.

was this posted anywhere in the forum? It's an Amazon documentary about Man City 2017/18 season and it features Wonderwall. Players singalong at ~ 1:07

Yes i think so, as Acquiesce was said to be written in the train to Loco studios in Wales where they recorded the SMS demo (the one from the original Japanese single) in feb 1995. I'm pretty sure Acquiesce was written in two sittings, the verses in one then the chorus sometime later, probably in the studio.

I really need to do this 90's Noel songwriting chronology

I don't understand Reddit. People like HC and comments like this have upvotes "Listen to to their stuff from 2000 onward. Everyone pushes DM and MG, but I think they got better with time"

I can see why.
It's the singles, before I became a big Oasis fan I looked fondly of the HC era lol.
Until you actually listen to all of the album.

The infamous pub party in the studio/cricket bat incident separated the two sessions.

On this link, it says The Masterplan was recorded in september 1995. www.oasis-recordinginfo.co.uk/?page_id=702Noel said he wrote it on a Japan Tour, and recorded the song only a few days/weeks after so it fits cos' Oasis was in Japan in the end of august 1995. But yes, Rockin' Chair, The Swamp Song, probably also It's Better People were recorded during Rockfield sessions. Maybe Step Out and Round Are Way too. There's doubt on Underneath The Sky. The Masterplan compilation credits say it was recorded in May but a promotional card included on DLBIA single says it was recorded in october. Noel said he wrote it in Camden Town the day before the recording, so it seems most likely the song was written and recorded in London, october 1995.

It's well researched, and although I'm relatively knowledgable about these things, am going off the top of my head. davidjay could fill you in more Interesting info about the DLBIA single promo card, first I've heard of that.

Here's what I cobbled together over the years regarding the Morning Glory sessions chronology. Hope it helps... Maison Rouge, Chelsea/Fulham, London,UK; June 1994 (not May)Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher Fade Away (released on Cigarettes & Alcohol single) Listen Up (released on Cigarettes & Alcohol single) Some Might Say [Demo] (released on japanese Some Might Say single) Whatever (released as a single) Congress Hall, Austin, Texas, US; October 1994Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher Assistant engineer: Marty Lester Half The World Away (released on Whatever single) (It’s Good) To Be Free (released on Whatever single) Talk Tonight (released on Some Might Say single) Loco Studios, Newport, South Wales, UK; February 1995Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher Acquiesce (released on Some Might Say single) Headshrinker (released on Some Might Say single) Some Might Say (released as a single and on Morning Glory [different mix]) Rockfield Studios, Gwent, Wales, UK; May - June 1995Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher All Around The World [?] Bonehead’s Bank Holiday (released on vinyl version of What’s The Story Morning Glory) Cast No Shadow (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) Champagne Supernova (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) Don’t Look Back In Anger (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) Hello (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) It’s All Too Much [?] It’s Better People (released Roll With single) Hey Now! (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) Morning Glory (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) The Red, White & Blue [?] [early title for I Hope, I Think, I Know?] Rockin’ Chair (released on Roll With It single) Roll With It (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) She’s Electric (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) Strawberry Satellite [?] Step Out (released on Don’t Look Back In Anger single) The Swamp Song [aka The Jam] (released on Wonderwall single) Wonderwall (released on What’s The Story Morning Glory) Maison Rouge Studios, Fulham, London, UK; (First week of) September 1995Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher Round Are Way (released on Wonderwall single) The Masterplan (released on Wonderwall single) davidjay (can't find the direct link right now): “Paolo Hewitt recounts in the opening chapter of his 1997 book Getting High:The Adventures of Oasis that both tracks were mixed there on Friday 8th September 1995 and that there was an argument between Noel and Liam over how the lead vocal sounded on Round Are Way (Liam is quoted as having said to Noel that ‘You can’t fucking hear me properly. It’s a top song… and you’ve fucked it right up’). The atmosphere improved after they listened to a playback of Owen Morris’s mix of The Masterplan, with Liam saying to Noel that it was ‘as good as any Beatles song…You don’t know how fucking good you are." Maison Rouge Studios, Fulham, London, UK; 5th September 1995Producers: Owen Morris Fade Away [Warchild Version] (released on Warchild charity album) Maison Rouge Studios, Fulham, London, UK; (Second half of) October 1995Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher Cum On Feel The Noize (released on Don’t Look Back In Anger single) Underneath The Sky (released on Don’t Look Back In Anger single) davidjay (direct link to the quote not at hand right now): “A promotional card included with the 7″ vinyl single of Don’t Look Back in Anger describes Underneath the Sky as ‘a brand new track recorded following their US tour in October’. In the absence of any more accurate information on the track, I have suggested that it was recorded at Maison Rogue, as many of the earlier B-sides were recorded there. In an interview to promote the Masterplan album Noel Gallagher recalled that the song was recorded on the same day as their cover of Slade’s Cum on Feel the Noize; Tim Abbot’s book on Oasis includes a photo of the band in the studio during this session but doesn’t mention which studio it is (the caption under the photo says ‘Chris Abbot and Noel spend a night reminiscing about Noddy Holder and Slade – a B-side develops in twenty-four hours. Anyone still standing is drafted in for backing vocals – get your boots on, skinhead’ As the picture shows Robbie Williams in the studio this raises the (perhaps remote!) possibility that he sings some backing vocals on that track). The control room pictured also resembles the one shown in this picture of Maison Rogue studio 2 on the excellent Philsbook website.” Rockfield Studios, Gwent, South Wales, UK; December 1995Producers: Owen Morris and Noel Gallagher You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away (released on japanese Some Might Say single)

It may have been discussed before, but I always wondered about the lyric similarities between "Country house" («He's got morning glory & life's a different story») & "Morning glory": I highly doubt this is a coincidence, especially given the Blur/Oasis rivalry, but who would have "quoted" who?
"Morning glory" was recorded in May-June 1995, "Country house" was released in August 1995 but I don't know when the song was actually recorded, if it was before or after May 1995.
Did Damon Albarn learn the new Oasis album would be called "(What's the story) Morning glory?" & decided to allude to it when he wrote the lyrics to "Country house"?

Some Might Say released on 24th April 1995 and went straight to number 1. Track 2 on the single, Acquiesce, features Noel singing the chorus of Morning Glory acoustically at the beginning. The Great Escape was apparently recorded from January to May 1995, so there's a slim chance Damon included that line as a nod/jibe to Oasis. I don't think he did though, it was probably just the lyrics he had. "Morning glory" isn't that uncommon of a phrase (in the UK anyway) and rhyming it with "story" is only logical.

Hey asimarx awesome work. What's the source on 'Strawberry Satellite'? Don't think I've heard that one before. I assume it's a rumoured title? For those wondering about 'All Around the World' and 'The Red, White and Blue' here's the source: Melody Maker - 10th June 1995

Not enough money for the second orchestra?

Not enough money for the second orchestra? Perhaps. Or maybe he just though (WTS)MG? didn't need it and he'd save it for album number 3. In a very early tracklist for album number 2 (Pre-Definitely Maybe) he had All Around the World as the closer. Perhaps Champagne Supernova ousted it? Alternatively, I'm not sure how serious Noel is when he said this, but maybe he was saving it for Eurovision? The audacity of this last paragraph, haha (the band's 1st single hadn't even been released yet!): Melody Maker - 9th April 1994
