Everytime I listen to Columbia I now think of the beginning of the Supersonic documentary.

Headline: Cocaine for the Ears
Doctors have concluded their twenty year comprehensive study and found conclusive evidence of a new way to administer cocaine: By listening to Oasis' Be Here Now.

If you're depressed, just put on this tune. And watch the video.
I'm free to be whatever I, whatever I choose. And I'll sing the blues if I want.

Hopefully Liam and Noel will reconcile one day, especially when their mother is still alive. Not for music, but for being brothers.

we all know noel liked to put album-worthy songs as b-sides in the 90s, and it was fine because for the most part the album tracks were still of a good enough quality. but he was still doing this from 2000-onwards, when he didn't really have enough good songs to go round, and the albums suffered. you had decent songs as b-sides and utter shite on the albums. for example you've got the heart of a star could've easily replaced any of the 4 or 5 shit songs on HC. I'd go as far as saying YGTHOAS could've even been a big All You Need Is Love-style single if he got Liam to sing it and it had been given some work. I get he probably wanted to give single-buyers value for money but it lowered the overall quality of the actual albums. Even Shout It Loud is better than Force-a-nature or whatever. He could've easily got Liam to sing some of the b-sides and put them on the albums. It is a shame about Heathen Chemistry. I had really high hopes going in, because the singles are almost Morning Glory-quality, but the album tracks (aside from She Is Love) are so fucking shit they drag the whole thing down. It could've easily been my favourite album if the album tracks had been even half as good as the singles. It was even more disappointing than SOTSOG and I didn't think that was possible
EDIT: i forgot all about better man. that is one of the worst things they have recorded. theres so many horrible layers to this album. its like a big shitty onion

Noel speaks of the 2000-2007 period as though the muse had completely left him, but it's not true at all. He had the tunes to make the Oasis Mk II albums into great ones, but what he's never had is the wisdom to choose a good tracklist. Every album from BHN on was accompanied by B-sides that would made the album transcendent, had Noel been smarter about it.

I was rewatching There and Then, and as always, loved the Lennon tribute during Live Forever. A rare show of humility from the cockiest band around, and a genuinely touching moment at the climax of a very emotional song.
But had John lived, isn't it almost a given that both brothers would have ended up feuding with him? Once you call George Harrison a nipple, all bets are off, aren't they?

Great performance and it's funny that some people found the spitting so offensive.

Great performance and it's funny that some people found the spitting so offensive. To me it almost seems like he's trying to sing that poorly. I think its one of the worst champagne supernova performances Liam ever did, certainly around that time period....

There's the exactly same guitar lick in Supersonic solo as in Derek & the Dominoes's Layla.
Not really TIL because I've suspected it for a while but just compared those two on guitar and it really is the same lick.

Great performance and it's funny that some people found the spitting so offensive. It's because he was trying to be offensive. He's never made any secret of how much he hated coming to America, at least during the Oasis years. I think he thought it was beneath them to be expected to prove themselves to American audiences. So his thinking seems to have been "fuck you, I reject you first".

Great performance and it's funny that some people found the spitting so offensive. Not the greatest vocals but it's still a classic performance tbh. Love the haircut too
