Alright guys, let's keep the parent thread spoiler free. Some don't get to see it till later this weekend or next week. Anyway, while I'm very tired, it was a roller coaster of a movie. Felt like Star Wars and was very nostalgic of the originals while building its own new and unique story in the Star Wars universe that felt believable. You cared about the characters and the dialogue was incredible. Set designs were amazing and the atmosphere was spot on. There's much to discuss about spoilers so who wants to start off? 2015 glider, you are a certified hack.

Don't care what anyone says TFA was a great first watch. Pretty much everyone was digging it for the first few weeks. It doesn't mean you or anyone else were wrong to think it was great at the time. I happen to still think it's excellent. Don't like TLJ though, commits the cardinal sin for a Star Wars movie for me which is being boring. I'd take any degree of bad or weird over a film that I can't sit through without daydreaming. It's why I rank it lower than the prequels.

I was very wrong cause I vividly remember not exactly loving it after leaving the theater, but convincing myself I did - hence the thread. Had alot going on then as well which probably clouded my judgement. TFA is actually my least favorite film out of the whole saga - the rehashing, safe writing, selling on nostalgia, really made it age terribly. I care about none of the new characters either, and Mr. Williams had a few solid new tracks but most of the film's score is just treading old ground, whereas the prequels at the very least had great soundtracks (Revenge of the Sith is my favorite of them). I still stick to saying that the movie felt like Star Wars - cause that's what sold people in. The JJ mystery box storytelling was able to keep everyone invested and anticipating the next film, which well, was shocking.

Rey's Theme was gorgeous but I do agree with you: Yeah it was one of the newer cuts I liked. Also, did you notice the opening titles anthem seems less explosive and expansive than before? Both 7 and 8's opening crawl themes sound like they have a thinner personnel in the orchestra.
Here's EP3's
And 7's
Maybe a lossless listen will do better plus with headphones, but it's noticeable.

I understand the feeling because my brain tried to do the same thing to me after TLJ. If you were in denial at the time then fair enough, I take issue with people who loved it at the time but through overwatching/over analyzing and being too easily swayed by more influential peoples opinions and have drastically changed their mind because of that. I agree the plot is a rehash and the soundtrack isn't up to par with the first 6 but I enjoyed it a lot despite that. I'd advise a lot of other people who enjoyed it at first and then changed their mind to wait a few months, then watch the film again, shut out the outside noise and try not to overthink shit, I bet you'll really enjoy it again. ROTJ is a rehash as well, but so what? It's entertaining as fuck. Most films in this genre are a rehash of ANH in many ways. Which itself was probably a rehash of a different story i haven't seen.
