Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead The Fly - U2 Yep, nice choices, those would probably make my list as well. Nice to see that 'Fake Plastic Trees' is getting multiple recognition, probably my favourite song ever. And for some reason I absolulety adore 'The Fly' as well, just everything about the song, incredible production, innovative sound and rhythym section, great tune and then the guitar solo. The solo!!

I agree, and all of the vibes, formed by what you mentioned is in The Fly, are incredible. It's a tune that mixes some funk and dance elements in with some psychedelic and ambient aspects, along with just being all out rock at the core. I can't describe it in any other way besides just simply saying it's The Fly.

Primal Scream - Higher Than The Sun My Bloody Valentine - Sometimes Teenage Fanclub - The Concept Slowdive - Slomo The La's - There She Goes Felt - Primitive Painters Spiritualized - The Slide Song Oasis - Whatever
(Bob Dylan - Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again)
If I were going to swap something out it'd probably be Felt because I don't know if I'm enjoying it the same way in years later (hopefully!). All the other picks are simply to do with how important those songs are to me, not only how good they sound.
Higher Than The Sun has probably my favourite lyrics ever so that was my first choice, Sometimes is my all time favourite song, there's something special about The Concept that I just can't put into words, Slomo is my favourite song by Slowidve, There She Goes has been my top-3 songs for years now, Jason Pierce and Spiritualized means a lot to me so that's why I picked The Slide Song and I couldn't not include Oasis in the list and Whatever is a nice choice (I considered DLBIA and CS as well).
I also wanted to include that Bob Dylan song. It somehow always reminds me of Hunter S. Thompson because it was played in Fear and Loathing and I knew he was a huge fan of Dylan.

1. D'You Know What I Mean? - Oasis 2. Idioteque or Reckoner or Let Down or Paranoid Android or Fake Plastic Trees or There There or Gagging Order - Radiohead 3. Girl/Boy Song - Aphex Twin 4. Varuo - Sigur Ros 5. The Scientist - Coldplay (prefer Politik but for repeated listens...) 6. Fools Gold - The Stone Roses 7. Nothing Like You and I - The Perishers 8. Light Through the Veins - Jon Hopkins Book: So tough...I'd go for The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Item: Chess set Quite interesting to see how much my tastes have changed over the last five years. If I had to pick now: - D'You Know What I Mean? - Oasis
- Violet Hill - Coldplay
- Ultralight Beam - Kanye West
- Gosh - Jamie XX
- Young and Beautiful - Lana Del Rey
- Holy Mountain - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
- Beach Life-in-Death - Car Seat Headrest
- Reflektor - Arcade Fire
- Stuck Inside of Mobile With the Memphis Blues Again - Bob Dylan
That's nine but I'm not leaving out Bob Dylan, the island can deal with it.
Book would probably be The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway.
Item would be a box set of Doctor Who, S5-S10. Obviously with a TV to watch it on.
