Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd I Am The Resurrection - The Stone Roses Live Forever - Oasis Tomorrow Never Knows - The Beatles Anarchy In The UK - The Sex Pistols Life On Mars? - David Bowie Suffer Little Children - The Smiths Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan Nineteen Eighty-Four - George Orwell I had a bit of debate with The Crimson Rambler about the possibility of taking a laptop to the island, specifically whether there would be a power source to charge the thing. I don't want to get into that debate again, so I'll take my guitar to the island (with a capo and serve plectrums smuggled inside it.)

Oh great choices, you're picking two of the songs I was going to choose too. So this is my list then: The Beatles-Strawberry Fields Forever The Beach Boys-God Only Knows Oasis-Don't Look Back In Anger David Bowie-Life On Mars? Bob Dylan-Like A Rolling Stone Pink Floyd-Comfortably Numb Simon and Garfunkel-The Sound Of Silence (ha) Radiohead-Paranoid Android Book: J.D. Salinger-The Catcher In The Rye Or Lewis Carroll-Alice's Adventures In Wonderland Luxury item: ehm..I'll get back to this later. Maybe I can't pick anything and I'll just take both books!

Almost went with that one myself but decided to go with "I Am The Walrus". It sounds absolutely outrageous in 2015. I can't imagine what it must have been like in 1967 with so much less music, bands, artists, genres and internet. Nothing else in ther world sounds like it. It's bonkers.

It's great, and is definitely in my top 1p of Beatles songs, but this and Something are my 2 favourites. And of course it does! They weren't the greatest band in the world for nothing 1966-67 is my favourite Beatles period.

Remember when David Cameron went on this show? They should have renamed it 'Desert Island Dicks'.
1. The Smiths – This Charming Man 2. Lana Del Rey - Video Games 3. Mendelssohn – O for the wings of a dove 4. Pink Floyd – Money 5. The Killers – All These Things That I've Done 6. Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees 7. Bob Dylan – Tangled Up In Blue 8. Benny Hill - Ernie
The man must surely realise the irony of his choice of a song like 'Money'.

Just when will David Cameron and the Conservative party stop casting such a critical eye on the businesses classes, and the blind desire for material they have introduced to society? He'll end up like that filthy commie Miliband if he's not careful...

All Around The World - Oasis I'm Only Sleeping - The Beatles Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine - The Killers My Mistakes Were Made For You - The Last Shadow Puppets Under The Westway - Blur Little Black Submarines - The Black Keys She's Thunderstorms - Arctic Monkeys I Still Believe - Frank Turner
I attempted this a few hours ago but gave up as it was too hard, I've only just got round to deciding.
I've also just decided it's a terrible list and needs way more thought. Oh well.

Sure I only did this a couple of months ago, though it may have been another forum. Anyway:
Oasis - Live Forever The Stone Roses - Fools Gold The Beatles - I'm Only Sleeping The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony Arctic Monkeys - 505 The La's - There She Goes (the best pop song ever written, seriously, I can listen to this song four times in a row) The Jam - English Rose The Smiths - William It Was Really Nothing
Book: Probably a Beatles guitar songbook to give me something productive to do with my luxury item.
Luxury item: Gibson J-200 in wine red. Man I'd love one of those guitars.
I was initially thinking of the eight longest songs I know because I thought they'd be the most valuable but then I thought nah quality over quantity. Only 'Fools Gold' remained from my original list.

All I'm saying is, we only get 8 songs on this island - it'd be rude not to make one of them a 10 minute long, grandiose, overblown, jubilantly extravagant monster of a song!
