I agree they're getting closer but they still haven't won a Grand Slam when all the Big Three members are in the draw. Medvedev and Zverev reached Grand Slam finals but they never did beat a Big 3 member to reach that level. I'd say Tsitsipas has been the most dangerous so far beating Rafa and Roger in Melbourne and doing a 5 sets against Novak at the FO. But he still hasn't reached that Grand Slam final (he did win the ATP Finals though). Also even though I like some of these Next Gen players, I can't help thinking the likes of Berdych, Nishikori or Tsonga were extremely unlucky to get their peak form at the same time as the Big 3 (or rather big 4) huge domination, and that a 25 years old Berdych would probably be more dangerous than a 25 years old Medvedev today. (not mentioning Del Potro, incredible player who would have had more GS in the pocket if the multiple injuries didn't avoid him to do so). Let's hope that the Djokovic quote will give a motivation boost for the young players though. Not sure any of the Next Gen is destined to have the supremacy of the Big Three, might not happen again for a long time! I'm a Tsitsipas fan but he doesn't seem to have found that thing yet where he can consistently take his game up an insane extra notch when facing adversity; he occasionally does it and then he's super fun to watch. I was also a really big Delpo fan -- had the luck to see him play in person before he won the US Open and he blew my mind. Seemed to literally break the laws of physics that someone that tall could move like that. When he hit the ball, you actually felt a thud in your bones. Truly a shame that his body gave out before his heart. There are a few teenagers who look promising: Sinner is already a factor and if he starts winning stuff he could be hard to stop (and he can play on all surfaces, but I find him a bit boring); I think Fokina is fun to watch but he can't seem to put together more than a set of inspired play so far; there are a few Russians who might suddenly explode. Hopefully will be some dynamic personalities who emerge ... Agreed also that the middle generation was kind of screwed and never able to get anywhere despite some real talent. Even Thiem is kind of on the edge, not really young and not as old as Rafa/Djoko and most destined to be a bride's maid, though he got his one Slam in ... Who else do you like lubeck? It's hard to pick favourites as I really like a lot of players but here are the 5 first names of still active players that came to my mind. Federer Nishikori Wawrinka Brown Goffin But really could add many players to the list and even more if we're talking about not so long ago retired players (Dolgopolov, Almagro, Berdych, etc). In the Next Gen my favourite are probably Shapovalov and Rublev, but I also like Tsitsipas, Auger Aliassime, Tiafoe, Berrettini (even though he's a bit older), Sinner, etc. Oh and I think Musetti could be quite interesting to follow in the next year few years too.

You get some serious points for Dolgopolov. Could never find many people willing to root for him with me. Bit of an odd fellow but I found his game really clever and offbeat and beautiful. I guess he had a serious blood disorder which kept him from being able to train to the level needed these days to stay in the top ranks, but he was still one of the more interesting players of this era. Like Shapo too. He can compete with Tsitsipas (and Wawrinka) for most beautiful one-handed backhand that isn't Federer's ...

The match was incredible, probably my favourite match between the two. Everything was there. I was worried a bit at 5-0 in the first set that the final will be soon over as Djokovic seemed totally out of it after a good opening game on Rafa's serve.
Then the match did go up a notch and we had amazing points on both sides. Djokovic lost a lot of points on his drop shots but he won the tactic battle, making Nadal run like crazy almost the whole match and taking the ball as early as he could. We'll see how Nadal will react at Wimbledon, it was a big big opportunity for him to be all alone with the grand slams titles record. On hard courts a lot of Next Gen can beat him even in slams. Can't see him beating the likes of Medvedev anymore if they meet again at USO for instance.
As for sunday final, Tsitsipas has probably less pressure on his shoulders playing Djokovic instead of Nadal but can't see Novak missing this opportunity to get the title and be only one grand slam away anymore of Roger and Rafa. We'll see !

That 3rd set was one of the best sets of tennis I've ever watched, up there with Rafa/Fed at Wimbledon 2008.

Last time I checked Mole had two less than Rafa and Roger. Suppose he is one down now. It's far from over 😉

I see Novak recovered again from almost dying in the first set.
