so hard for me to pick one to root for in this final. I prefer Nadal over Djokovic but I don't want Nadal to reach Federer's grand slam record

Nadal is the best guy after all and I hope that he will become GOAT.

It's really fuckin' great what Naomi Osaka is doing. 4 GS finals, 4 wins. This year in Melbourne, except her match against Muguruza (who was also on fire), she seemed so serene during the whole tournament, basically beating Serena Williams at her own game during the semi final, and having so much power in every part of her game. Plus I really like her, cos' she's kind of an anti star. She always seems a bit shy and awkward, and that makes her really more relatable than so many other "corporate" players. If FO and Wimbledon are allowed to be played this year, I wonder what Naomi will do there. She's definitely the best player in the world on hard courts at the moment. If she does progress on clay and grass, I think there's a big chance she will end up there with the very best on GS number of titles.
The men's final is (hopefully) gonna be amazing too. Medvedev has an unreal level at the moment. 20 wins in a row in tournaments. 3 straight sets against Rublev and Tsistipas, who were both playing great tennis in Melbourne. The guy's is 198cm tall and runs like a player 15cm shorter. His serve is great too, so is his return and really he has the best or at least the most precise backhand on the tour right now. But Djokovic in AO, it's 8 finals and... 100% of wins in those finals. Whatever a lot of us might think of his attitude on and off the court, that he might get irritating if not more sometimes, the guy's machine on the court. For some reason, I got an youtube recommendation of the Djokovic vs Nadal in 2020 ATP Cup highlights, well I never saw that match before, and fuck, on some points Djoko was close to his absolute prime. It's not as aesthetic or offensive as Roger for example (but who is on the actual tour ? No one) but what he accomplished as a player has to be respected. We gotta remember that before he won his 2nd GS in Melbourne in 2011, Roger had already 16 GS (!) and Rafa had 9. At this point, no one could have thought Novak could get so close to these guys a decade later. That will be the most exciting thing about the final: either Djokovic will get closer to the two legends, or Daniil will be the first player born after 1995 to win a GS.

I love Naomi Osaka since she stood her ground in that first US Open final vs Serena. So humble and talented

Good morning That record is gonna last quite a bit, I think. As much as I'd like Roger to prove me wrong, it seems impossible he comes back to number 1 one day(or at least long enough) tbh.

It's over. Maybe in 20 years someone will break it, Nadal and Roger won't. It's still mostly about Grand Slams but if they end their careers with same number of GS titles, in my opinion, this will make Nole GOAT.

Did someone watch Rome's final last sunday ? At the end of the match, Djokovic had some right words.
Every year I do have "I Got You Babe" playing over and over in my head as we're approaching the French Open.

Every year I do have "I Got You Babe" playing over and over in my head as we're approaching the French Open. Did watch it--not their greatest match tennis-wise but always something electric with that pairing. Next Gen gonna have to physically pry it out of the Big Three's hands for sure, as it should be ... but I do think it's getting more and more dangerous for these guys with every slam. Definitely more dark horses for the FO than in previous years and both Djoko and Rafa look a wee bit more vulnerable than ever. Will be interesting to see the draw. With Rafa at #3, he could play Djoko in the Semis ...

Medvedev and Zverev reached Grand Slam finals but they never did beat a Big 3 member to reach that level. I'd say Tsitsipas has been the most dangerous so far beating Rafa and Roger in Melbourne and doing a 5 sets against Novak at the FO. But he still hasn't reached that Grand Slam final (he did win the ATP Finals though). Also even though I like some of these Next Gen players, I can't help thinking the likes of Berdych, Nishikori or Tsonga were extremely unlucky to get their peak form at the same time as the Big 3 (or rather big 4) huge domination, and that a 25 years old Berdych would probably be more dangerous than a 25 years old Medvedev today. (not mentioning Del Potro, incredible player who would have had more GS in the pocket if the multiple injuries didn't avoid him to do so). Let's hope that the Djokovic quote will give a motivation boost for the young players though.

Djokovic is my guy for decades now but I want so badly someone new to support, I can barely stand Novak anymore :-) I mean, as a person xD I will keep to support Novak until he ends his career, now it's not time to change but I will try as much as possible to follow him only on tennis court xD

Let's hope that the Djokovic quote will give a motivation boost for the young players though. Not sure any of the Next Gen is destined to have the supremacy of the Big Three, might not happen again for a long time! I'm a Tsitsipas fan but he doesn't seem to have found that thing yet where he can consistently take his game up an insane extra notch when facing adversity; he occasionally does it and then he's super fun to watch. I was also a really big Delpo fan -- had the luck to see him play in person before he won the US Open and he blew my mind. Seemed to literally break the laws of physics that someone that tall could move like that. When he hit the ball, you actually felt a thud in your bones. Truly a shame that his body gave out before his heart. There are a few teenagers who look promising: Sinner is already a factor and if he starts winning stuff he could be hard to stop (and he can play on all surfaces, but I find him a bit boring); I think Fokina is fun to watch but he can't seem to put together more than a set of inspired play so far; there are a few Russians who might suddenly explode. Hopefully will be some dynamic personalities who emerge ... Agreed also that the middle generation was kind of screwed and never able to get anywhere despite some real talent. Even Thiem is kind of on the edge, not really young and not as old as Rafa/Djoko and most destined to be a bride's maid, though he got his one Slam in ... Who else do you like lubeck?

He once seemed to even be a cool guy but somehow that part went all wrong ...
