To me it's a top 10 Oasis song. One of the best melodies Noel ever wrote and one of the best Liam vocals, Listen Up to me just embodies everything I love about Oasis, though it's rarely mentioned by non-fans. I just love everything about it. Anyone else agree?

Absolutely! It's cemented in my permanent top 4. I love everything about it: the melody, the lyrics, Liam's vocal, the combination of Bonehead's rhythm playing and Noel's licks. Even Tony's drumming is great. A worthy champion of the Masterplan elimination thread.

Yes! Best B-side ever IMO!
Love the guitar solo, and the chorus. Everything about it is perfect, honestly.

The first time I ever heard it, I thought it was a combination between Live Forver en Supersonic. Best b-side with Acquiesce!

Weirdly, it was the last song I heard from the Masterplan and it blew me away first time I heard it. Liam's vocals and Noel's brilliant guitar solo cement this song in my top 3 Oasis songs. I just wish more of the general public new about it as it could have been huge.

Possibly my all time favourite Oasis song. The version Noel did at TCT in 2010 was possibly my favourite live music experience.

Not even in my top 5 songs on the Masterplan but probably my favorite Liam vocal on any song.

It's a shame that not many people outside of us diehards are aware of Listen Up. Such a brilliant song.

Tempted to make a Listen Up Hate Thread. As I've mentioned on numerous occasions I really do dislike this song. It's just a really long and boring version of Supersonic with awful meaningless lyrics and very poor production. Definitely my least favourite 90s Oasis song.

Anyways, yes Listen Up is incredible. I do have to ask @rfb though, how are these awful lyrics:
"Take me up to the top of the world, I wanna see my crime"
"One fine day, gonna leave you all behind, it wouldn't be so bad if I had more time"
And the amazing chorus:
"Sailing down the river alone I've been trying to find My way back home But I don't believe in magic Life is automatic
But I don't mind Being on my own"
And going to add this controversial opinion of mine: I love it miles more than Supersonic.
There, I said it.

Because to me they don't, which is probably why I dislike the song so much. I just don't have any connection with the lyrics.

There, I said it. I love it more than Supersonic. It's probably my favourite Oasis song - along with Cast No Shadow, Half The World Away, Columbia and Rockin Chair. The sound is very raw - perhaps too raw for a song as beautiful as this - BUT that is offset by the best Oasis guitar solo and the BEST Liam vocal performance of all time. First time I heard the song, it was Noel's performance from MTV Unplugged. For me, it is melodically the greatest song of all time.

I'm tempted to make a Listen Up vs Supersonic Poll now.

Funny that I should see this as the first thread this morning. I was just listening to The Masterplan and thinking about how Listen Up could be my #1 all-time-favourite Oasis song. Everything about it is perfect. the production even makes it seem just a tad ethereal. It just soars and soars.
The lyrics also do carry a lot of meaning. To me, the song seems to be about standing tall, standing proud and facing an unjust world and finding self-validation and vindication. In a way, very similar to DYKWIM in that respect. But mind you, that's my interpretation. Someone else's could be vastly different and that's what great about Oasis songs.

I still remember where I was when I first heard 'Listen Up', a very random place and time.
This was before all the singles and b-sides were conviently listed and available on the internet, and instead you'd go the record store and randomly pick up an Oasis single with b-sides that were, in many instances, better than album tracks.
A top 10 Oasis song for me. The drums are mixed too high, etc. but still a great song.
God bless.

The thrill of discovering those other tracks unlike just typing it into Youtube.

Love this one. At first I thought this was a slightly less good version of Supersonic, but it isn't. It's every bit as good in my eyes, only with better lyrics.
It also works way better acoustic than Supersonic for some reason. Just listened to the Unplugged version again for the first time in ages and man, it's amazing with horns too!
