I didn't make the game today thankfully as i'm on my way to London. Not that i've been made aware of, he did come off injured i think aroud 40 mins. All I can say is I wanted County to get a few more to confirm Lockes resignation. After alot of effort i got myself optimistic for the season but signing Championship players just doesn't cut it, with the exception of Boyd and McDonald. We saw how big the gap is on the two-legged tie between Motherwell & Rangers. Stevie Smith, Lee McCulloch, Dale Carrick (although injured) and Scott Robinson just not good enough. None of these guys set the championship alight in strong teams. Poor recruitment + poor manager = poor start to the season. Go out and get Mixu. I can see them going for James Fowler. That hasn't really worked for us...thinking Johnston and Locke. Mixu is probably the very best option. Ally McCoist? McCulloch? Boyd? pffffffftttttt!!! I'd never return.

Ooft, some finish. Not the only great goal in the championship today, James Craigen's goal for Raith here (the first one) is fantastic

Play should have been stopped for that Livi player on the deck haha. Livi wanted a foul in the build up to the goal which is why Mullen was lying on the deck. At the time I actually thought it was. Anyway, here are the highlights with a decent frame rate and sound this time. Any excuse to post that goal again.

Almost as big a fluke as Niall's screamer last week.

If Hibs had a decent finisher today, they would've done the "Harlem Globe Dobbers".

Would life really be worth living with no hair AND supporting Killie? Could be worse, you could have no hair and be a United fan.

So, how much longer do we think Deila will last? Failed to meet arguably Celtic's main objective for two seasons in a row. His roar which they seem to love might keep him in a job for a bit longer to be fair.

I can't decide whether we made Thistle look poor or whether they made us look good. Either way, we were very dominant tonight, particularly in the first half. They'll be down there with Killie come the end of the season.
Once again Peter Grant was outstanding in defence and bagged a good goal as well. Baird put in a huge amount of work up front as well.
There were a quite a few shocks tonight which is always good to see.

I don't think its necessarily Deila's fault. Scottish football is in the fucking pits as shown with one meagre representation in Europe courtesy of Celtic in the Europa League.
That's embarrassing. The fact of the matter is that even though people construe John Collins remarks as offensive to the other teams, it doesn't hide the fact he is spot on. Okay, him and Deila are massive fucking hypocrites for poaching all the best Scottish talent from other clubs, but take that quote in isolation and out of context and he is right. The way Scottish coaches coach players and in particular the kids is shocking. There's no emphasis on technical ability and kids are only taught how to 'fuckin clear it!' as the red faced sweaty coach screams at a kid who dares to play with the ball at his feet. Small kids with technical skills are overlooked in favour of some neanderthal brutes who are merely favoured because they are physical, and overall, the emphasis on coaching is to 'not lose' by stopping the other team from playing as opposed to developing players technique to actually go for a win.
There are some chinks of light. Hamilton regularly produce players who go to the Premier League which is an incredible feat considering the size of the club. Dundee Utd's youth program has been reformed since Craig Levein called for it, and the kids are taught how to play with the ball and get maximum time on the ball to develop skills - players like Ryan Gauld should set the benchmark in terms of what Scotland needs to produce. Dunno much about Hearts but I'd like to think Levein has set out the same reforms as he did at United. Likewise, Deila and Collins have the same approach, and Aberdeen's academy is also reaping rewards thanks to Derek McInnes and more innovative measures emphasising technique. Rangers seem to have got their act together (after typical long ball neanderthals like Kenny McDowell) in hiring Warburton whose Brentford side were mightily impressive to watch last season. But as far as I'm aware, my own club Inverness is doing fuck all and despite John Hughes emphasis on a more silky brand at senior level, by all accounts, that isn't being streamlined down the age ranks. There's no excuse from smaller clubs like Inverness and the rest considering Hamilton's prosperous system.
I don't buy into the fact that we are where we are in the FIFA world rankings because we are a small nation when similar sized countries do way better than us and produce way better players than us (Wales? Scandinavian teams, Iceland, etc). There are encouraging signs that the culture is changing with regards to fitness and coaching methods, but there's still a long way to go before we can get a decent Scottish national team up and running along with a proper decent Scottish league.

It seems like more of a cliche than anything. Sure, in the past there was this idea of British teams being big and physical but a lot of the young players coming through now seem to be small attacking midfielders who are more technical players rather than 6ft plus players just playing hoofball. The national team are a decent example of this. We seem to have hardly any promising young centre backs breaking into the squad yet loads of midfielders and wide players both in the under 21 squad and others who are pushing for the full squad who are hardly what you would describe as being physical. I'm sure at some levels that kind of coaching still exists but I think it's been near enough eradicated in professional football.
