I'll copy the review I wrote for rateyourmusic site
4.5/5 It's called "Chasing Yesterday", yet it's a leap forward; It's easy to listen, yet it has depth In Chasing Yesterday, Noel Gallagher paradoxically leaves behind yesterday's rock stadium pretentions and sticks to poprock lighweight melodies that seat over very well built grooves. So yes, we have a very good produced album.
He also leaves behind yesterday's rocknroll aggressivity: Melodies here are carefree, lightweight, feelgood, maybe mysterious, but not pretentious at all. They aren't intended to invent the wheel, nor are anthemic in the oasisesque sense, but they don't dissappoint.
The real thing here are the grooves and the more dynamic percussion. Unlike the 1st album (which was dull, monochromatic and boring in drums), Chasing Yesterday has a whole ecosystem of sounds, colors and elements arranged in psychedelic key that you can discover and rediscover with each listen. There's diversity in here. Noel Gallagher achieves something amazing: We've got an album easy to listen to, that just won't wear off, because it has enough depth and is rich enough in sounds to draw you to another listen. In other words, songs aren't huge, but somehow you get lost on them easily. As though they were small jungles. There's a lot going on in few minutes.
The groovy approach can be found in Riverman verses, The Right Stuff, The Song Remains The Same, and Ballad of The Might I...
There are poprock upbeat numbers such as We Know We Can't Go Back and Lock All The Doors and the 1st single...
Highs: Riverman, Lock All The Doors, The Dying of the Light, The Right Stuff
Lows: The Mexican, only because the riff is rather generic. It's hard to come up with good riffs in 2015. It's enjoyable, tho.
Everything else is pretty solid and entertaining enough.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for posting reviews. I haven't gotten mine yet so I'm refraining from reading too many things, just because I want to hear it for myself without getting influenced. But thanks for sharing your comments. I'm excited!!!

In addition to being in Denver for some odd reason, did you also get sucked back in time to 1998? My college, Arizona State, was rocking Ethernet in 2000. You could have the world not in hours or minutes but seconds. Got the album now. Just started Riverman (again), to do my first full listen of the album. Get in. Oh I know what happened. It's so obvious now! You went back in time like Bruce Willis in 12 Monkeys. This time however you went back to tell Beady Eye not to release Bring The Light as their debut single and ended up getting locked away in a mental institution because the idea of LAG seemed silly to Americans from Colorado. Get better bro.

Altright, I've surrendered and just finished listening to the leak on proper headphones for the first time. My two cents:
- the leak is much too bass heavy (there's surely a more appropriate description fidelitywise), so there's space for improvement
- The Girl With X-Rays and The Dying Of The Light will be the upcoming singles. TUNES.
- Ballad Of The Mighty I grows and grows and grows...
- Jeremy Stacey is playing like Animal on The Right Stuff. I would have never imagined me saying this, but that song is how I wish Radiohead would have sounded on their last record
- While I do understand Noel's intention to include The Mexican at that spot on the album (songs before are very heavy on emotions etc.), it somehow didn't click with me. Chorus sounds like "Whatever Happened To My Rock'n'Roll" from BRMC
- There's hints of New Order, Bowie, Brian Eno, Springsteen and, funnily enough, Oasis. Lock All The Doors seems to be a mix of the verse melody of Comin' On Strong and the chorus we all know.
Onto listening session #2...

Is there a better rip out there yet? Saw one on a torrent site over 110mb at 320kbps.

It is described as 320kbps but is in fact 128. There's no better quality rip over there.

At first couple listens, I am disappointed. There have been songs from the solo career that have grown on me and I am open to that possibility, however...
Riverman - Noel reportedly said the saxophone was killed by the 80s and I agree. This song does not dispute this statement. I'd only be shocked if the saxophonist did not have a ponytail. It's okay, but doesn't do anything for me. Sounds like a weaker Alone on the Rope.
In the Heat of the Moment - Some brilliant mad audiophile out there made a version from the instrumental removing the Na-Na-Nas and it allows this one to shine. Sounds great in the absence.
The Girl With the X-Ray Eyes - A tune with a distracting rhyme scheme. I was hopeful for this one being a psychedelic romp but found a syrupy/poppy throwaway.
Lock All the Doors - Prototypical oasis first single. It is everything I wanted Four Letter Word to be. Can't help but imagine the Liam snarl filling stadiums with this.
The Dying of the Light - The sound check version is so strong I worried this would overblow the melody like the polished versions of Stop the Clocks and I Wanna Live in a Dream (In My Record Machine), but no. Strongest track on the record and an instant classic for the Gallagher canon.
The Right Stuff - A duet with a lady. The blue-eyed soul you'd expect from Michael Bolton or Michael McDonald. Embarrassingly bad and a song I never thought Noel would record. The fucking saxophone...
While the Song Remains the Same - Noel can write songs like this in his sleep, by-product of his brilliance. Not my favorite. He has average tunes like this without appeal i.e. Magic Pie or Where Did It All Go Wrong? M'eh.
The Mexican - Very bad. Two songs this bad on one album is disconcerting. Nothing redeeming here: Wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah.
You Know We Can't Go Back - Very good pop song with the exuberance of Round Our Way. Still got it.
The Ballad of the Mighty I - Great single typical of the new direction. With so many big solos, I wonder why Mr. Marr's presence isn't felt more, but can't argue with the end result.
Honorable mention for Do the Damage - Grew on me quite quickly. I heard it was originally the album's lead track and while it doesn't not have to be first, 10 songs with many missteps warrants the addition of a great tune. Do the damage, kid.
Overall, too much of a Bowie influence for my taste. I only hope the deluxe edition with flesh out the total songs enough to disregard the five tracks I'll likely skip.

I don't really like doing these so soon after listening to a new album as things always get overrated when they're new and fresh but here we go anyway:
1. Riverman 8.5/10
2. In The Heat of the Moment 6/10
3. The Girl With X-Ray Eyes 8/10
4. Lock All The Doors 9/10
5. The Dying Of The Light 9/10
6. The Right Stuff 7/10
7. While The Song Remains The Same 7/10
8. The Mexican 6/10
9. You Know We Can't Go Back 8.5/10
10. Ballad of the Mighty I 9/10
Album overall: 8/10
Massive improvement on HFB 1

This could well change but for now...
Riverman: 4/5 In The Heat Of The Moment: 3/5 (the nanananana's spoil it for me). The Girl With X-Ray Eyes: 4/5 Lock All The Doors: 3/5 (Would rather he left Oasis soundin' songs off his solo album though). The Dying Of The Light: 4/5 The Right Stuff: 2.5/5 (shouldn't have made the album, surely he has better songs than this for the album). While The Song Remains The Same: 2.5/5 (see above). The Mexican: 3/5 You Know We Can't Go back: 3/5 The Ballad Of The Mighty I: 4/5
3/5 for me. Can't say I'm too disappointed in the album as I wasn't expectin' it to be a masterpiece. Lookin' forward to hearin' it in better quality though. Overall though I wish he experimented just that little bit more & I find it hard to believe he's not got stronger songs than some of those on it.

The fucking saxophone... [/p] Seriously, I appreciate your opinion on the remaining tracks (though I tend to disagree), but comparing it to Michael Bolton is outrageous. I was even thinking of Radiohead or Stereolab. Perhaps you meant Sade?

Believe me, I didn't want to make the comparison, he forced my hand. Sade wouldn't be apt.

If you were expecting me to be negative towards Noel you clearly don't know me. I'm possibly a bigger sucker for Noel than tomlivesforever is for Beady Eye.

,
right stuff is like high horse lady with chill out ambient, only three chords about five minutes, boooring, also
It is true that has many guitar solos but the only one that is stand out is on mighty i,
Remains the same is a copy of falling down..+ soldier boy ..same chords progression
The mexican.. Nice verses and riff but lack of a good chorus
Riverman is good but too Long, and edited versión would make more justice
Lock the Doors, should have add more vocals in the chorus, more double channel, and i miss the hook of the bass and quick chords change during It, right after "before this time"! That sounds so well on the demo

The Right Stuff is vastly superior to High Horse Lady.
