Does the job perfectly of being a bonus track - fun, nice melody and a welcome addition to the album. The song is also an indication of the good frame of mind Noel's in right now - I can't see a fun piece like this being recorded (and released) for any of his other post 1997 albums. Can you imagine this being recorded during the po-faced DIG OUT YOUR SOUL sessions? Even his first solo album played it too safe to include this sort of fun (even as a bonus track). Very true, hindsight proves even further that Noel was stifled into a certain way of writing towards the end of Oasis - his creativity seems to have benefited no end from High Flying Birds. Anyway, I find myself comparing Leave My Guitar Alone to Girls In Uniform - both nice, fun little songs which I actually enjoy very much.

It's probably the most Noel has ever apes off The Beatles. I mean it sounds like a lost studio demo from the Revolver sessions for crying out loud. Like their first attempt at "Rain". I can see why Noel didn't have it on HC, DBTT or DOYS. Same reason a song like "She Must Be One of Us" probably won't see the light of day. It's a complete Bob Dylan rip off from Blonde On Blonde. Yet people have no issues with songs like Waiting for the Rapture, Mucky Fingers, Who Put The World..., Shout it Out Loud, etc.? You may argue that these tracks are of course better than The Good Rebel, but they are as obvious in terms of ripping off another artist. As a matter of fact, they rip off one specific song each (two in the case of SIOL), whereas The Good Rebel (leaving aside the drum pattern) apes the style of a band at a point in time (that being transitional, mid-60s Beatles). And that's just looking at post-SOTSOG Noel-sung tracks. I'm simply not buying that people get touchy when Noel rips off something, since we all got used to that long ago. I think the issue here is that for once he was copying something people could recognize immediately, whereas they might not spot the similarities on the other tracks as fast. TL;DR version: You may argue the song is shit, but the "it's shit because it's a rip-off" argument doesn't work when dealing with Noel-penned songs. Oasis/Noel/Liam already have to deal with so much Beatles comparisons, especially in America in 2005, releasing The Good Rebel would have played into their critics hands as being Fab Four rip offs which of course is not true. It also doesn't help that it sounds so similar to the Beatles' Rain.

A fun little tune. Not very good though, but thats ok. To be honest I would've been very surprised (and a bit annoyed) if it was a new LAMB, a fantastic tune left off the album for no apparent reason.
So unless future singles have b-sides we've never heard this should be the last new track we get from the CY era.

Now you're making me wish The Hindu Times was on Chasing Yesterday. Probably would have sound trippy as fuck or more like the demo with this album's style of production.

I chuckled when I heard Noel and whoever was helping him record the track talking.
[N]: "The one and only take?" [X]: "Yep!" [N]: "Thank you!" [X]: "Yeah!"

I'm enjoying this tune. It's not great but it's good and perfect as a bonus track. You'd swear that was Macca on bass, I think it's the first ever Oasis related release that you'd think it was actually The Beatles during the instrumental bit.

I don't think Oasis sounded anything like The Beatles bar a few songs here and there. They had there own sound and a very unique singer. People are a product of their collections and what they like. This song is about as Beatles as it gets and I'm sure Noel was aware of it when he was recording it. Its a nice tune and I don't think The Beatles should be allowed a monopoly on that sound forever.

I love that song more and more. It's cheesy, but fun. and the production is pretty cool. Very Macca in his early solo career.

Really White Album this song. B.side stuff, but it's the kind of nice little Tunes I like Noel to put out as bonus tracks. Of course, he can write like 20 songs like this in a week, expecially in this period, when he seems prolific and inspired.

It would be hard to convince me that this song is not about Liam I'm pretty sure it's about an old girlfriend. Took his guitar (which he loves), took his clothes... The person has angel eyes. Hid his poems and prose (his music). And he's pleading, obviously for the person to return. That's a literal take on it. I suppose it could be metaphors and symbolism to mean Liam, but I doubt it. I think it's plainly about a girl that he loved who left and took a lot of his shit. We've all heard this story.
