Horrible news - Robin Williams has died aged 63, apparent suicide.
A tragic loss, one of the world's funniest guys ever.

Just totally and utterly shocked! I was a fan of his. I even have all seasons of Mork and Mindy. I know he had a time with addiction and after divorce from his wife he seemed not happy like he was. He re-married, buthe changed. His fought of addiction and I felt bad his last TV show Crazy Ones was canceled. I feel for his kids and no comedian could art near insane comedy like him. My favorite Robin Williams scene from one of my favorite movies.
Depression is a bitch. Feel horrible for his family. I lost a sister from suicide a few years ago and everyone blames themselves for it. I hope his family realizes it's not their fault.

Don't let Beady’s Here Now see this. He'd say Bush would've written a better eulogy.

Another Williams Classic. Never saw Dead Poets Society. Wondered why people were posting O' Captain My Captain.

Another Williams Classic. Never saw Dead Poets Society. Wondered why people were posting O' Captain My Captain. It's a very solid late 80s movie with a young Ethan Hawke and other familiar faces. Before Good Will Hunting, this was the dramatic acting people praised Robin for.

This one hurt. As his death is an apparent suicide, this is just a reminder about how serious—yet treatable—depression can be. There are ways to get help if you need it. This is a good place to start. There is so much to live for, and goodness knows how tough life can be when nothing seems to go right, but just remember how much people love you... even when you don't love yourself that much. Take it from me-- things can get better.

Makes you wonder about his wife. Amount of hours in the house before finding him and her statements right after his death. What 10 to 13 hours before finding him dead?
His kids and I know Zelda is really shaken up. I couldn't image. He was same age as my dad was.

Losing your loved one by suicide is the pain and guilty that you always carry, even to your grave.
RIP. Be strong Mrs. Williams.

I can't believe he's gone. We lost a great actor and a hilarious man. I knew he was battling with depression and substance abuse, but it never occured to me that he could end his life like this. It's truly sad.
Depression is something that's still poorly understood. If you're in a bad state, please reach out for help. Don't be ashamed or scared, there will be someone who can help you. Also the other way around, if you are concerned about someone, ask them how they are, try to help them. Talk to them. It's so important for them.

This literally felt like a hit to the gut when I first heard about this.
Can't even describe how much of a talent Robin Williams was. In every sense of the word he was talented. Him talking about acting and comedy is still one of my favorite episodes of Inside the Actors Studio ever. His facial control was amazing and of course his range was too. Talented enough to be accepted into Julliard, yet down to earth enough to be a comedic legend. He could dance, sing, act, do comedy, and even Shakespeare (his bit role in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet is great). It's hard to imagine, but before Williams was in Aladdin, Disney rarely hired comedians to voice their characters. They usually found some older actor who had done their run and could now loan their name. Williams' performance changed that. Now Disney almost always employs at least one comedian in their animations.
His performances in Dead Poet's Society and especially Good Will Hunting (literally one of my favorite films ever which netted him the Oscar on his fourth try) are quite simply stunning. It's crazy to think that of the eight nominees from Good Will Hunting, two have committed suicide (Elliott Smith the other). That movie also really started the trend of actors taking less money to fulfill certain projects. Originally no studio wanted the film because they didn't want two first time screen writers attached to it in Matt Damon and Ben Affleck and didn't want either in the lead roles. It wasn't until Robin Williams attached his name that the film was able to be made. And Williams took a steep pay-cut to get it done (the budget for the film was only 10 mill).
The coincidental thing is that, earlier that before his death was announced, I had been watching his bench scene in Good Will Hunting. Didn't know why. I just wanted to watch it that day. I thought to myself, "I can't wait till Robin Williams gets back to that subtle, yet funny role again." Went on to check his IMDB to see his upcoming projects and then went to work. I'm glad I took the time to watch that scene again.
RIP Robin Williams. You will be missed.
