I reckon Andy could shift to bass, on Jay's part it seems odd because I can't see Beady Eye getting bigger than Kasabian. Wonder what Kasabian will do.. will they try bring back Chris Karloff or whatever happened to him Kasabian had creative differences with Chris Karloff and asked him to leave. I doubt they or him would welcome a reunion. Especially since Kasabian blew up without him. No way Andy shifts to bass. That would be a waste IMO. Andy is a creative force, Jay is more of a supportive band member.

Thanks didn't know what happened with Kasabian and Karloff, just seen he co-wrote the first album and half the second then disappeared. I know it seems unlikely Andy will shift to bass as him and Gem are the ones writing the music but it be interesting to see how or if Beady Eye develop with 3 lead guitarists.

It could mean something very positive for BDI's new material if this guy was willing to ditch Kasabian for it, since it certainly wasn't for the band that made DGSS

Plus Jay was just a touring member/session musician. This gets him back on the road for a band that a lot of people want to see.

He's been a touring / sessions member / then full member for nearly 7 years so if he was so bothered about always being on the road he would've done work with other bands prior to now. He obviously has his own reason for quitting which I'm sure we won't ever know but if he wanted to be on the road so much he would've played last night, (and the 2 warm up gigs and TCT) prior to BE tour

hopefully this means that the new album really is a big step up from DGSS. If it was shit then jay would hardly leave Kasabian to tour it. Probably reading to much into things but whatever

Kasabian have been very active since 2009 and are winding down a bit this coming year outside a festival here or there. On the flip side, Beady Eye are warming up and going to tour heavily I'd imagine the rest of this year and perhaps into 2014. Lots of fun band activity. Jay's gotta start Beady Eye rehearsals I'd imagine over the next months or two.

So why does he need to he constantly touring? Most band members tend to take time off after a tour.
Like I said if it was all about being on tour he would've played last night, and then the 3 gigs in the next 2 weeks at least . (Forgetting about the potential cross over when BE are touring in the summer)
He has quit kasabian. The way the official statements are wrote you can see he's quit. You wouldn't quit one of the uk biggest bands at the moment just cos you want to carry on touring.

It's just a theory I had prior to Kasabian's announcement on him potentially leaving/quitting/whatever. He doesn't write music or lyrics. He isn't getting royalties from albums or singles. For musicians like that, touring is how you make your money or playing sessions. Most musicians like to keep active because you never know when it will eventually dry up. That's all.

I understand your theory but he was a full time member. He would've got the same royalties for touring / playing on their last record as any off them (except serge). Wouldn't need to worry about things drying up
If he was joining BE plainly for the pay cheque I'm sure they could've excused him for 1-2 potential tour Clashes between the 2 bands this year or kasabian could've drafted their engineer like they did last night .

I'm sure it'll be cleared up officially in the album/tour press release in the next few weeks.
Be nice if BDI had a full official lineup. I was surprised they didn't try to fill the band before DGSS. Especially the longer they go on and the bigger their catalogue becomes.
Never thought I'd see Liam in a band with an American though. lol. Not that I think he hates Americans or anything.

I couldn't believe this when I found out last week, was totally gutted... I don't understand what would make you want to leave a band who headline festivals and sell out the O2 Arena multiple times, to go to a band that can't even sell out Brixton (no offence to beady Eye, just fact...)
But I think it is a case of wanting to carry on playing live music... I think Kasabian are going to be taking a year or two off, with the odd gig now and then, with Tom, Chris and Serge all having babies in the past 2 or 3 years, with a rumour of Serge's lady being pregnant with a second child (however, I've not heard much on this, so dunno if it's true).
So, I think there's a good chance that Jay has left for Beady Eye to play music. Kasabian and Jay don't seem to be on foul terms or anything, they posted a video of him yesterday, along with a nice message from Serge.
Either way, I'm glad I'll still get to see Jay live, and maybe even meet him again, because he's such an ace guy... And any members of the forum that meet him will soon discover this. He's proper kind, and dead funny.

Beady Eye will serve him well over the next 12-15 months. Full steam ahead.

Perhaps, or he might just become a live member for beady eye full time, you'd think he'd want a better role as he's leaving a festival headlining band that he has recently become a full member of to join a much smaller band as maybe just a live musician.. I find his decision very odd to be honest. He's leaving Kasabian to play bass in Beady Eye! Either he's on drugs or he's a massive Oasis fan. Anyhow I'm excited to see what he can bring to the music. Maybe he's realised that Kasabian are absolutely awful and that he's joining a band that isn't solely reliant on a guy shouting "Come on, *insert town*", flashing lights and Gallagher endorsements.

Liam just wants an american in his band coz Noel's got one too. I don't think Tim Smith would encourage anyone into getting an American in their band... It'd be like Liam deciding to get a fat drummer who wears a white shirt and a gay hat gig after gig, after gig because of the brilliance of Jeremy Stacey...
