Well, I enjoyed episode one of Before We Die on Channel 4 last night and I think that it's going to be a really good drama. The whole boxed set is available on All4 but I will watch it on TV πΊ on a Wednesday night.

I finished watching Blinded Those Who Kill on BBC 4 last night and then I started watching series 2 of Luther on BBC IPlayer as I haven't seen them all. I've only seen series 1, 4 and 5.

Stone cold classic. It'll make you laugh and cry. John Candy is a genius in this.

Tenet.
Just Michael Bay for people who want to look smart. I love a bit of time-travel wankery, me - but it needs to be based on compelling characters and a story that's worth telling. Nolan writes like an AI trying to compute human communication for the first time, and the Protagonist here is the exact same as the protagonists in all his other movies last decade: a bland, soulless robot who goes from one boring conversation to the next, generating just enough exposition to justify the next round of explosions. The set-pieces are cool in and of themselves, but you could say the same of Transformers. And who cares about plot complexity when the characters are so simple? To call their psychology childish would be an insult to children. Anyway, I'm tired of people applauding his originality when that pales in comparison to his sheer inability to write a human being that anyone gives a fuck about.

I started watching Top Of The Lake series one on Netflix last night as I haven't seen it. I think that they only made about two series though.

It's the second episode of Channel 4's Before We Die tonight, it's a really good police thriller and it looks like there's some bent cops involved so it should get better as it goes along. And, I enjoyed The Pact on BBC One it was good.

If there's any wrestling fans here, I recently re-watched Dark Side of the Ring's episode on The Ultimate Warrior by ViceTV. This series kickstarted a small interest in wrestling for me.

Joker.
By which I mean, I watched The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver shamelessly ripped off to collect those "we live in a society" dollars. I've been on a massive film kick this week. No idea why. Here's a ranking of all the films I've watched in the last seven days:
1. The Lighthouse (8) 2. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (8) 3. Uncut Gems (8) 4. Knives Out (7) 5. The Death of Stalin (6) 6. The Wolf of Wall Street (6) 7. Joker (5) 8. Tenet (3)

I finished watching The Beast Must Die on BritBox last night (it's only in three parts) and I enjoyed it but I'll have to wait until the next series now. It's a revenge thriller.

I'm looking forward to that new three part drama which starts on BBC One tonight Time with Sean Bean and Stephen Graham, it looks good. It's written by Jimmy McGovern and anything written by him is usually good.

I really enjoyed the first part of Time on BBC One last night, very hard hitting and well acted. Mark needs to toughen up if he's to survive in this prison.

I'm currently watching The Silence on Amazon Prime which is really good. It's about police corruption but it's now 11 years old as it was a BBC drama but I've never seen it before. So it must have pasted me by when it was originally on TV.
