didn't wanna jinx it, i see. I am neither superstitious nor given to commenting idly on unsubstantiated transfer speculation. Not any more.

If the £22m price tag is true.. Wow. Arsenal pulled Utds pants down. United are, I'm almost convinced, the worst negotiators in football.

@louissaha08: I'm on my way to discuss with Sunderland.
If he stays fit, this could be good. Atleast Martin O'Neill has actually made an attempt at signing a Striker, something Bruce seemed deadset against

Before we go any further I'd just like to clarify my position, which is a) that United paid too much, and b) that I am unconvinced that United even need Van Persie. There are four very good centre forwards at the club already, and while Van Persie is undoubtedly world-class he is also pushing 30 and prone to injury. It's a risk. It's a fantastic signing on paper, and something of a coup given the interest from other clubs, but part of me sees him as, like Veron and Berbatov before him, an answer to a question that nobody is asking.

marquee signing for the fans do you think supersonic ? It's also an excellent way to undermine dissent over the ownership, although I suspect the transfer was financed almost entirely by the new Chevrolet sponsorship deal.
