Too American for my liking. Fuck that. You're an American yourself, but hate to being an American especially since you're "back" in England. I've lived in London for a whiel when I was younger and I still visit England quite often, but United Kinddom is not a heaven. I can't say anything about the United States as I've never been there before. But every country, every culture has their own thing, so does my country. To me you look like someone who doens't know where is your "home". Sorry for off-topic post and I aplogize if I offend you.

Too American for my liking. Fuck that. Funny You know I love u. But you have no clue , the ironic part is you worship oasis. Who are accused of being to ENGLISH for AMERICA. Why they subtitled them on MTV behind the music , same reason why the jam get critisized by some stupid Americans , your in that boat but in reverse , you love oasis and have no problem with them being too " ENGLISH ". But don't like bruce for same. Interesting. No knock but think of it , Difference is. Bruce commands stadiums worldwide oasis never did they can't plsy to 80ooo in states. But bruce can play to 80, 000 anywhere ,.., fact .... I like oasis better. But " born to run"" darkness on edge of town " can relate to a frustrated kid in the midlands looking to get out of the area just like bruce wrote to get out of jersey

Springsteen sings about the hardship and toil of America - Beady’s Here Now you do realise Born In The USA isn't a patriotic anthem? I don't get why you're a Republican - surely they are the ones with their nationalist overtones and gun yielding maniacs that won't have a bad word said against the USA. Springsteen's warts and all accounts of working class American life hit a chord that is univeral to everyone who goes through similar strife, and the escapism and desire for a better life of such tunes like Thunder Road is the type by which you love Oasis surely? The lyricism is incredibly eloquent and only Dylan can rival him in the US for lyrics in my opinion. To say Springsteen is 'too American' is like saying John Steinbeck is 'too American' with his social commentary, and we all know how much chest beating patriotic Americans hated him. Or likewise, Morrissey is 'too English' because he sings about The Queen and that means he must love her to bits no? You don't have to be a fan of him (which this page is for fans btw), but get with the script man, surely you recognise why he is considered so great?

In college my first election I went to vote for first time , I was registering as indy this lady said it wouldn't look good she said who are u voting for i knew her so it was ok , I said REAGAN. This was 84 , she said then register republican so I did , since then I have voted bush sr , Clinton , clunton , gore , bush jr , and last i abstained cause I don't like obama or the rep alternative , so I'm a true indy , I vote for who I think is best party affiliation is dumb we need to be more open minded not be part of a party ...imo

I don't necessarily agree with their politics broadly (e.g. support of gun ownership and all that, that leaves a bad taste in all British people's mouth because it is simply something we over here have been brought up to believe), but I do recognise the achievements they have made in office, and there have been quite a few. I studied Politics and International Relations at university, and one of the most fascinating modules was US politics so I got a good objective view by studying it - the whole thing fascinates me rather than disgusts me.

Thanks kalas. And my pleasure, The Milkman & The Riverman. Too American for my liking. Fuck that. Too American? Didn't you go to college in Washington, D.C.? I don't think you will ever understand or appreciate Bruce until you begin to yearn. Until you long for something more, from better pay and a better job to a better girl, but most of all, a better life. To get out of that podunk small town, with those small minded people and the small minded dreams. When the highway is your channel to the rest of your life, but your car won't even take you that far—if you even have a car at all. If Bruce is too American for your liking (which I highly doubt, by the way—I have a very strong feeling you don't like him simply because of his politics), move to the England. It's not like you won't get away from The Boss over there, though; his fans in the UK are as crazed as his American fans are.

I agree i lean DEMORCRATIC. I loved REAGAN tho because carter made us the soviets punching bag , we needed REAGAN so I voted for him and he delivered the soviets attitude changed , but all in all I am more Clinton thinking thus dem but I vote for who I believe will make us more money and steer the ship right . I hate party's I prefer individual why I think I'm a true independentv

My stint as his ghostwriter was why his 90s period was so lackluster. (I was going to say "but your car is a Pinto," but there you go.)

Here's a good place to start. It includes most of Born to Run that NYR suggested plus some other great songs from his first two albums. It's one of my favorite concerts of his.

Congrats! Just don't try to act too British. You're an American—be proud of it. (And for god's sake, don't even think of attempting an English accent… if you haven't already.)

Fantastic album Born To Run, NYR ,listened like 4 times yesterday, i always knew i'm gonna like Springsteen, don't know why it took my so long. His follow up album Darkness on the Edge of Town. I prefer it to BTR. It's much darker and heavier musically. BTR was him trying to get out of that town Darkness was what happens when you cant escape.

Being a Jersey guy, born in Bruce's hometown, it's amazing the amount of people i know who have run into and met him. Some at restaurants, some in bars, one guy at his local gym in Shrewsbury and some just wandering the streets of Freehold. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised. He seems like s regular dude, a man of the people and very down to earth. Never dressed flashy away from the stage.

Never dressed flashy on the stage except the costume he wore on the born in the USA tour You know Neon Bible is a the best Springsteen album he didn't write.
