This is the smaller festival setlist Noel played at the Auckland Big Day Out last night. He'll probably do the same for the entrie festival tour. Thoughts?
1. (It's Good) To Be Free 2. Everybody's on the Run 3. Dream On 4. If I Had a Gun... 5. The Death of You and Me 6. Wonderwall 7. Supersonic 8. AKA... What a Life! 9. Talk Tonight 10. Half The World Away 11. (Stranded On) The Wrong Beach 12. The Importance of Being Idle 13. Don't Look Back In Anger I think its fantastic for a festival. No weak links in there at all.

good setlist. However i don't like that he's now playing more Oasis songs. Over half the setlist is Oasis. I thought the reason he played Oasis tunes(or so many of them anyways) was because he didn't have enough material to cover 90 minutes of gig. Anyways, I am sure the people who go to see him will love it. We'll see how they receive his solo stuff.

I posted somewhere that he shouldn't have dropped Broken Arrow. He should have dropped IGTBF instead. It would have made the ratio 7:6 in favor of the new stuff and IGTBF hardly gets a massive response. And RM missing is a bit wrong...don't know what I would switch out though.
The rest of the decisions I can hardly fault. SB&JF isn't that big a loss. Freaky Teeth wouldn't be a good idea at a festival because even if they liked it they won't be able to buy anything and may have forgotten it by the time of the next album. And TGR is just a middling song. The rest of the Oasis sings are career highlights.
It's a good festival set list...but I yearn for the day that he doesn't feel he has to start and finish with an Oasis tune

People regard Noel Gallagher as an Oasis man, not a High Flying Birds man. I know what you mean, but IGTBF is one of my favourite Oasis songs and I wouldn't change it for anything, least of all Broken Arrow...
I like it as an opening song. It's unexpected, it's oft, it's weird, it's freaky...it's Noel Gallagher.

^^As do I but he's been opening with it since 2006. Hope that he changes it for the arena gigs.

It's Good to be Free doesn't strike me as particularly weird or freaky. It's not even bad. Just a bit middle of the road. Considering his impressive catalogue and quality new stuff and the fact he has opened every show he has fronted since the STC tour...it could do with a rest.
And Broken Arrow is a better song. ;p

The festivals are always gonna be more oasis, all the real fans would have saw most of the high flying birds matrial at 1 of his own gigs.

I'll be seeing Noel at Coachella in California in April, and I wonder if he'll be playing the shorter festival setlist there. Probably. I saw the full setlist in November in San Francisco and I am so disappointed to see that he has eliminated "Record Machine"! It is my very favorite NGHFB song. I would much rather hear it than "Wonderwall" (yawn) or "Supersonic" (I hate the new arrangement and it just makes me miss Liam).
