"F*****g Amy Winehouse? She'll be dead before I write another one." (NME, September 17th 2008). Even if she died after the High Flying Birds album was recorded, there is a coincidence about the timings.
"I dunno, I would never write a song called A Different Way to Die or Die Another Day... there's always something about death, isn't it?" (NME, September 17th 2008). Lo and behold, three years later, his first solo single is out - The Death of You and Me.
"I am not recording new stuff, not just yet. It'll be out when it's finished I guess. Well, I've not even started it, so I don't know." (Talksport, February 9th 2011). He said this almost a year after starting work on his two albums, and just a few months before announcing them.

This is marginally interesting...but honestly virtually everyone could have predicted Amy Winehouse's death.
And obviously Noel is in complete control of the songs he writes and what they're called.

This is marginally interesting...but honestly virtually everyone could have predicted Amy Winehouse's death. Yeah, I never said there was much in it. Of course Winehouse's death was rather inevitable, but the timing was a slightly strange coincidence - that's all. And obviously Noel is in complete control of the songs he writes and what they're called. I know, but it's quite interesting looking back and saying he wouldn't write songs with the word "death" in the title.
