We will never know what really happened that night in Paris. You are right when you say we should find a place in the middle of the two stories. So far, I believe Liam was throwing some tantrum bcoz of Noel´s refusal to advertise Pretty Green in Oasis shows but also I believe Noel was pretty tire of Oasis. He hadn´t been at 100% at the lasts shows, with angry face and really serious. He found a good reason to start working on his solo project, something he was expected to do a long time ago. We´d seen far more violents fights in Oasis past than this.
And finally, the music and the fans have been the winners here. We´ve got a better musician Liam who´s really into his band, not relaying on somebody else to make his band work. I think he´s really working hard for the very first time in his life and that could be reason why he´s gettin more mature and sobber. And also we´ll see how Noel has to deal with appealing a public not only with his songs (he´s done this before of course) but also by filling the stage with rock and roll charisma. Noel´s songs??? No doubt they will be universally wonderful.

Neither is better than the other. Oasis broke up because Liam and Noel couldn't resolve their disputes and it should probably be left at that (although Liam's insistence on Pretty Green was a silly thing to do). Andy and Gem should not be blamed for it, it was between the brothers.

I still think Noel saw the option of getting out (I don't know whether he was provoking or not, Liam on fire for the umpteenth time is probably enough in itself to get the fuck out) and went with it - he was clearly bored of it. I don't think it's fair to put the blame on others - though he can feel that after long years in the band Andy (or Gem) is already "grown up enough" to do something and stop a row. I'm sure both brothers are trying to put the responsibility off of himself in front of the public. And both are at fault. But the explosion was always coded - they can't seem to be able communicate rightly with each other.

I was looking for this Gem quote (Oor Magazine interview). He's talking about the night in Paris.
"It’s best you don’t get yourself caught in, just let them settle down. Noel just went away. He walks away more often, but now he slammed the door"

I think we will only know the real truth when Andy and Gem finally tell their versions of what they saw at that night.

Like I've said on another thread, the overriding impression I get is that Noel didn't want Liam to get his own way and Liam didn't want Noel to get one over on him. People will always take sides, the "pro-Noel" camp will always paint him out to be whiter than white and blame Liam, where as "pro-Liam" see Noel as a provocative control freak who spoiled for a fight to get away from it. Both are valid I think.
They've both provoked each other for years - Noel knew Oasis was nothing without his songs and wanted to assert his authority, Liam knew Noel wouldn't walk away as it was his band and he didn't have the confidence to go solo. In the end it reached a point where neither really needed each other, hence the split.
