I just don't think 11 songs all sung by Noel will be anywhere near as enjoyable or listenable as 11 songs by Liam.
Don't get me wrong, i love Noel as a singer and love him even more as a songwriter but if you look back at songs sung by Noel, it seems they are either soft accoustic songs (Talk Tonight, Half The World Away etc.) or upbeat rockers like Step Out and Mucky Fingers. There's no real middle ground. I realise there are exceptions to this but if i imagine his album, i really can't see much variation.
Where as with Liam, there are so many Oasis songs that work solely because he is singing them. More so in the early days. And there seems to be such variation to what you can do with his voice in the studio compared to Noel's.
I hope i am wrong and it's a great album that ,just for a few weeks at least ,brings back quality to the charts but from a personal point of view i worry whether his voice is interesting or unique enough to make a whole album.

I regularly listen to a compilation of all Noel sung songs together in one folder on iTunes, it has some 20 something tunes I think, and it is awesome. Loads of energy and not boring at all. A very good listen in reality.
I don't fear Noel album at all. It will be pure class.

i'd just like to say it's nice and refreshing to see LiamGallagher1992 say something thoughtful, and to a point, intelligible instead of acting like a really cheap Liam Gallagher impersonater.
what you said about Liam's voice is very true, it's what saves most of the very mediocre BDI songs.
Noel has great voice as well, not as good as Liam's but great nonetheless. his album will, i'm sure, be better than BDI's musically but BDI have Liam's voice and it'll be the end of age discussion forever, 'what if.......Noel's songs had Liam singing them? and what if BDI have Noel's songwriting gift. it's rather pointless but entertains people, i guess.

Listening to some of the Liam-less bootlegs, Noel's voice sounds pretty good doing everything except maybe Cigarettes & Alcohol. I'm not worried at all.

Apart from the odd lumpy rocker like Lyla (which Liam's voice saves), Noel's voice is every bit as good personally - perhaps even better these days. Liam's voice is more unique - loads of people love the voice, but some cannot stand the sneering vocals - it's what happens with the unique vocalists. Noel's voice is much more soothing, and I've never once heard anyone say they hate it. Perhaps it will give reason for those who didn't like Oasis to buy Noel's album.

Noel does technically have a better voice than Liam. Noel can hold notes longer than Liam as well. like on a song such as 'half the world away', a perfect vocal - pitch perfect, holding notes. Liam sings so loud, which is why his voice goes out. i'm not getting into particulars about ear monitors or stage volume, either. he sings really, really loud and maintains pitch when his voice isn't wrecked from singing so loud, the neverending conundrum.

I am not concerned about Noel's ability to deliver and album full of vocals. Many artists with voices less unique than Liams and less versatile than Noel's make albums every year.
I've actually made the same comment about Liam as you have made about Noel. He's got a great voice at his best...but he doesn't actually do a lot with it really. He's quite a crude kind of singer. There aren't any inflections on his vocals and basically no dynamics either and his range is clearly more limited. Listen to DGSS, pretty much the dynamics in the song seem to be from production and effects instead of Liam actually doing something.
I think Liam's lack of range as a singer probably had something to do with the criticism of sameness that many critics have (on top of Noel's lack of adventure musically). Oasis didn't do enough with effects to maximize the impact of Liams voice like BDI does. If Noel puts in some subtlty and variation into his style of vocals I think he might actually come off pretty well critically for his vocals.
Also Liam does have a love it or hate it voice. Oasis fans love it...but not everyone does. I know many people that find it grating. As someone else said, Noel's more soothing voice might actually be a good thing to bring in non-Oasis fans.

Talk Tonight is one of my all time favourite songs. I wouldn't mind an album full of them at all.
Can't seem to figure out embedding, if it doesn't work:

If you think you won't enjoy an album sung by Noel then don't buy it. End of it. If you wanna listen Liam's voice you can listen BDI all day... Don't know where the problem is.

I haven't truly loved an Oasis song sung by Liam since Be Here Now/The Masterplan. SOTSOG's demo's sung by Noel all seemed more pure and inspiring. Plus, the live performances with Liam on vocals have been less than stellar since 2000, I'd say. I couldn't be happier with a completely unadulterated Noel Gallagher album.

I can't understand why people say Noel singing all songs could be boring or not good... I don't know how can they thing like this. That's what I think about Liam actually. He almost can't even sing anymore and his voice always sounds the same. Plus, live, he tends to change the songs' natural rythm sometimes.. Noel is a better vocalist (nowadays) and he has many different registers and Liam only have one.

Every month or so we have a thread like this about whether Noel's voice can carry an entire album, and each time we all generally agree that given his current songwriting style, he can clearly do it.
Just listen to all of Noel's songs and b-sides from the past two albums, that's a very varied collection of songs. He has different vocal tricks for a lot of those songs, and I think as a solo artist we're only going to see more of them.

Just a thought:
11+ songs?
Knowing Noel, we're more likely due for 10. I'd be very very surprised if there were 11 or 12.

Why would you think that? We only had 10 tracks on SOTSOG all the rest had 11-12 and he was responsible for picking the number of tracks on the album. So why would knowing Noel indicate to you that we'll be getting 10 tracks.
Seriously, people have to get out of this mind space that Noel is literally incapable of putting in anything more than minimal effort. He doesn't work often...but I have yet to have heard anyone suggest that he is lazy in studio. Once he gets in there all the other members of Oasis agree, even Liam, that he puts in lots of time. And according the the band and Noel he was going through a bit of a fertile patch during DOYS and after.
Noel says that he is lazy, but he also says he's a bit of a workaholic when he gets to it...and I'd believe it.

Oasis wasn't like a normal rock band where most members have a major input - Noel was doing almost all the work and probably worked harder than any other rockstar on an album. He could be forgiven for getting tired of being in a band for 17 years after delivering all the goods for everyone else, because let's be honest, nobody bought Oasis albums primarily to listen to Gem, Andy and Liam's tunes.

Liam singing Go Let It Out and Gas Panic completely and utterly destroys noel's versions. Agreed. I'm as big a Noel fan as there is, but let's not get TOO caught up in the hype here people. Liam's voice fit many post-BHN songs much better than Noel's. The 2 mentioned above are especially good examples.

(Forgive me, I don't know how to do that quote thing).
I disagree with your first point. Liam sounds burned out, and his live versions sound like a struggle. I think the SOTSOG tour was the worst for him. Noel on Gas Panic, to me (of course this is all opinion), captures a much more eerie quality that I think the song presents. I've never been crazy about Go Let It Out, so I'll hold onto my two cents, ha.
With that being said, I will admit that Stop Crying Your Heart Out is pretty good with Liam. But, the live versions of the song aren't as captivating without Noel's addition in the chorus. To be fair, the SCYHO demo was completely stripped down. I think Noel's voice would benefit with the piano and strings. But alas, we've never had the fortune to hear it.
As for being slightly deaf, it's certainly possible. I hope my hearing holds out in time for Noel's new stuff, though.
Songbird is good. Liam sung better on the tracks he wrote, which is why I think he sounds better in Beady Eye.

I agree that SCYHO was never nailed live but i think that was mainly because the instrumental on the intro was poor live compared to the album version. And when Noel joined in on the second chorus it sounded great with Liam and Noel combined belting it out because it just made it sound anthemic. Gas Panic, fair enough. I agree Noel's version is great but we will have to put it down to personal opinion as i reckon Liams voice was made for that song. I do believe that Oasis songs have always owed alot to Liams voice and although Noel fanatics will disagree with me, for me, supersonic, live forever, wonderwall etc. and later stuff like lyla, TSOTL and THT wouldnt have had anywhere near the impact they did without Liam. Another reason i miss the magic of Oasis.

For the record, I agree with the OP. But its pretty irrelevant now. The album is coming and we'll just have to like it or lump it.

It's all going to be dreary acoustic shit, so it doesn't matter what his voice is going to be like - Liam could sing it, and it would still turn out dreadful.

When has Noel Gallagher ever just put a strictly acoustic song on a record? His A-sides are never merely acoustic, with the exception of "Let There Be Love." Have you listened to his music? You've Got The Heart of A Star was acoustic, but that was a Japanese exclusive track. Married With Children, yeah, but that song was badass and was the follow-up to 10 classic rock n' roll songs. You're a maniac.
It figures that a Beady Eye follower would be so bitter.

This topic may have been relevant back in the '90's when Liam was a vocal God and Noel an off-key thin-voiced shouter, but right now, I would take Noel's current voice on 11+ songs over Liam's current voice on 11+ songs in a heartbeat.
