I wonder who the "some pathetic people" are? you're not one of them obviously. just like you, i like to say what's on my mind without having an agenda to make one of the borthers seem better/bigger than the other. When LAG announced the new name of the band, Beady Eye... i thought it was ridiculous and i said so on this very board. When they released BTL as their lead-off single, i said how i felt about the shitty song. When i saw the videos for BTL and 4LW, i criticized the lack of production, etc... I don't have to like everything Liam or Noel do, and in fact, i don't. im not a Noel apologist that goes around making excuses for everything the guy does wrong. Like excluding good LAG songs off Oasis albums(for whatever retarded reason), or naming his band that hilariously ridiculous name, or making a fucking electronica genre album, or publicly slagging his brother off ever since the day Oasis started. Obviously same goes for Liam. Good post ^^

Kind of random but did anyone else have any Noel related dreams last night? I was really excited for the presser before I went to sleep and planned to wake up around 6 (US Central time) and read what went down. I ended up not waking up until around 10, but I was upset at the news I had read earlier in the morning that his new project was called 'OK Sunshine!' (not sure where my mind came up with that). I also wasn't a big fan of the single he had released, and that If I Had A Gun was left out. It took me a minute to realize that I had dreamed all that. The real news was much better, although like everyone else I do wish there was a song release. Not very relevant I suppose but I wonder if anyone else had an active mind last night. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this, but when I went to bed last night and woke up in the morning I dreamt that I had watched the press conference and heard Noel's new debut single, and that it sounded weird.

I had a dream last night where NoelGallagher.com posted a free B-side, and it sounded like some weird psychedelic stuff, with a voice over at the end for whatever reason.

Yeah, it was Noel's voice and he was talking about global security or something strange like that. Weird.

I'm a bit wary of what Noel is up to. To hear that the greatest rock and roll songwriter of his (and most other) generations is going to be tinkering around with experimental junk is just sad. How can the guy who wrote Cigarettes and Alcohol tell us that he's going to surprise us with "Vaudeville, some of it's actual space jazz, some of it's Krautrock, some of it's soul, some of it's funk... and that's just the first song. It's the furthest out I've ever been, put it that way." Wow, okay.
I'm also not feeling as confident as I used to be about the first album either, but I'm holding out hope that he still has it. At any rate, Beady Eye seem to be the band from the split keeping guitar rock alive.

I don't know why you're shocked--Noel's just playing to his strengths. He's not a great rock and roll shouter and he is absolutely awesome with an acoustic guitar and limited accompaniment (see the Stop The Clocks shows w/Gem and the Teenage Cancer Trust shows). Heavier songs like Step Out and LDSMD and Acquiesce work in spite of Noel's voice rather than because of it imho. He's best suited to acoustic ballads and mid tempo song-y stuff lie TIOBI. Glad he seems to be sticking to that.

Noel's an artist, most great artists like to change and keep challenging themselves. i have alot of respect for people that are willing to go out of their comfort zones and change. that's what life is essentially. by the way, how the hell do you live in Alabama and Scotland? i mean, i know you aren't in both places at once but those are two extremes.

Whatever (I'm not saying you are simple minded, but it sure sounded like it there)

I really don't get morning wood that often. I think it's because I often kick my covers off in sleep and my subconcious realizes it would be no good to have that situation if someone walks in my room. I don't know. I also don't normally wake up until well after noon that could be a factor.
As far as the Amorphous Androgynous collaboration; I'm sceptical, rightly so, but also excited. Very intrigued. My second favorite band, number one before I got into Oasis, is Linkin Park (weird combo, I know). I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't all that well liked around here, not sure, don't mean to pigeon hole everyone, but their last record, A Thousand Suns, was quite electronic and I love it. I also enjoy AA's Falling Down remix. I just downloaded 3 of their records last night and after listening to most of The Issness, it didn't have an immediate impact on me but it wasn't bad and i will listen to them more and see where it goes.

But I think the first album will still be very guitar based. Also IMO but the guitars on DGSS aren't that amazing.

Concerning the AA album. artists create they need to experiment to at least some degree. I'm sure its gonna have a decent amount of guitars its just gonna be a lot less straight forward song wise and whats wrong with that? I love me some basic rock n roll and there's nothing better but step out of the box and try something new. Believe it or not writing basic rock songs does get boring for (some) writers its always interesting to hear what they turn out when they decide to change it up. Oasis was such a safe band musically they branched out a little bit over the years but I'm exciting to hear what Noel's got up his sleeve. Obviously a lot of people are gonna be turned away from it but this could be another under appreciated album in his discography. In some ways I'm looking forward to this album more just because its probably gonna be a wild ride, probably the wildest since BHN.

Hopefully for one thing at least, the 2nd record sounds like it may be more an effort at a true album as opposed to just a collection of songs. With 18 songs I'd be surprised if a few aren't interludes to help with the flow.

With all this talk and good NGFHB stuff going on, I figured it would be interesting to read this thread from 10 years ago back from when it all started. Bumping it so it's easier for me to find later.
