And we (Noel worshipers) have god to thank for that. I know this site can turn into a Noel wankfest but lets get serious here, Weller is as revered and current today as he was in 77, there is no chance of Noel doing albums like 22 Dreams and WUTN back to back. Neil Young is phenomenal - to release an album like Le Noise 50 odd years into a recording career is unparralled while Live at Massey Hall is the best live album of its type released. Weller and Young write/wrote songs that had a social conscience - Tube Station, Eton Rifles, Bring the torch burn the plans, Southern Man, Ohio etc.... As things stand right now in 20 years Noel will be remembered for LF and DLBIA - 2 songs. Ask 100 Oasis fans for their favourite Noel Gallagher song and that is what the vast majority would say. Ask 100 PW and NY fans the same questions about their respective favourite songs and you'd get a minimum of 10 or 15 songs for both PW and NY. Noel isn't fit to discussed in the same breath as those 2 at the moment. In 10 years time maybe but absolutely no way right now And I say go and blow it out your ass as you sound like a condescending prick with such comments. "Let's get serious here.....Noel isn't fit to be discussed in the same breath as those 2"?? Who the fuck died and made you an authority on anything? Honestly, what is with guys like yourself and a few other members of this forum? You act like you have the final say on what stands the test of time or who is eligible to make a greatest songwriters list. I will say this for the 1,000th time. It's ALL SUBJECTIVE OPINION. You can't prove any of it, so what is the point in trying to change another individual's mind on the matter, or belittling them for having a different opinion? I am familiar with Weller's material, he is a great writer I just happen to think his voice is extremely ordinary. As far as Young is concerned I feel the same way, only his voice in my opinion is tragic. You are making blanket statements as if you can prove them right somehow by showing me statistics of what "The vast majority would say". That same vast majority probably reads popular music magazines for guidance from the "experts". Spare me your bullshit, please. This forum has plenty of that already. And while we're at it, you might as well keep from making comments that make you sound even dumber than you already do, which is almost impossible at this point. Every Oasis record sounds the same you say? Go get a good pair of headphones and compare Be Here Now to SOTSOG, then when you are done feeling like the complete schmuck that you obviously are, go and compare Definitely Maybe to Don't Believe The Truth. Have you ever listened to an entire Oasis record? Or do you just like coming onto these forums to get the attention your parents obviously never gave you. Fucking pathetic mate. Gag yourself with a thick cotton sock and some duct tape, seriously. It'd be the greatest contribution you ever made to society.

It'd be the greatest contribution you ever made to society. As much as I think martinpaul is off base, that was uncalled for really. Also no need to invoke NYR, Spaneli, etc into this. It's great having difference of opinions - how boring would this forum be if we all agreed on everything? The only thing I wish martinpaul would include are facts. He seems to be rehashing things that The Rolling Stone (US) would print. Claims like Oasis' fan base hasn't grown is wrong, and it devalues and de-credits any sort of point he's trying to make.

NL4E, you're right, that was completely wrong for me to say and I removed it from my comment. Sorry about that, I tend to get a bit carried away sometimes and my emotions do get the better of me. Thanks for putting me in my place. Don't kill yourself Martin, I actually enjoy railing against forum members such as yourself.

Noel's voice...I've just vomited. It's chronically awful.

Noel is about as good a singer as Ringo was in the Beatles, good enough to get a tune across, but that's about the size of it. Dude.

Noel's voice...I've just vomited. It's chronically awful. I understand you don't like the man's voice, that is perfectly fine. But to call it "chronically awful" and saying it induces vomiting? Now you're just being silly.

Don't feed the troll! You're right GD, but they seem to know my weaknesses so well! I know he's a troll, but I might as well make him look silly anyway. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/1258801/images/A9bL_RjIN9bOhnrQxKjN.gif) Poor guy... still thinks Liam can sing.

The troll hasn't been around lately. He's seemingly starving. Don't feed him, maybe he'll die (metaphorically and virtually, of course).

Back on topic, Noels voice is better than ever, he has developed a falsetto but in the late days of Oasis when i had the privilege to see them he used that style on a song like lets say TIOBI and it sounded as powerful as it did beautiful No doubt about it. Noel's voice is like my 2004 wine vintage, becoming more refined and tasting sweeter with age. His sound-checks from the final Oasis tour/TCT gigs were proof of this. Friends and family tell me to lower my expectation level for Noel's solo record, that I'm setting myself up for disappointment. I feel that no matter how much I expect from Noel, not only will he meet those expectations, he will exceed them by leaps and bounds. No one is prepared for what is coming.
