I wanted to vote for Alan as he's awesome and part of the Oasis institution, but Chris just edges it for me.

I voted for Alan - the drumming on WTSMG (especially Wonderwall) is perfect.

Zak isn't getting enough love on this forum. I voted for Chris, but he just barely edges Zak. Zak's an awesome drummer.

Alan is the classic Oasis drummer but his style got really tiring and bland from Be Here Now onwards - his drumming on the Heathen Chemistry tour sounded forced and uninspired.
Chris was the best technically and spiritually - having been in the La's he was a perfect fit.

Chris Sharrock is the best drummer Oasis ever had. The only drummer who made a difference with the sound. Listen to any of the bootlegs. Rock n roll star is just immense!
Alan White was ok. Nothing special.
Zak was very good.
Tony was ok.

Chris was by far the most versatile. Alan was a very, very good drummer but he kinda had the one style which was great for Morning Glory but it was a bit dead after that (may have been Noel's fault not his). Zak was good but a bit too Keith Moon. Tony was... he was ok for Definitely Maybe but most drummers could have done what he did.

Yeah but how does that mean he isn't the best, he breathed new life into a lot of the songs on the last tour.

Its not for me, all you have to do is listen to the opening blast of Rock n roll star, to realise how good he is. But he added stuff to every song.

To me Zak and Chris are very similar in that I like their style very much. Zak brings the Moon-like madness to the kit which was amazing to see through the DBTT tour. Chris can do this well too, but his more subtle drumming is more intricate than Zak's.
Alan was a great drummer, but after HC it took Zak to show how new drumming can breathe new life into the songs. Tony was...well, tony. He did what he did and his drumming was just perfect for DM.

I'm a Tony man. Simply because he was the first Oasis drummer when I started listening to the band right at the beginning of 1995.
I know he's not the best but he's my favourite with Alan a close second.
As Zane Lowe says, however, Chris is a monster.

Chris is pretty awesome... he has presence on stage and that something for a drummer...
I like Zak, he had his own style and made me pay attention to the drums for the first time...
Alan was pretty good, but he never blew my mind... his work in WTSMG is amazing, but since then he never got my attention...
I remember when Alan's brother took the drums during the Brothely Love Tour, that was quite awesome... the versions of Morning Glory and Gas Panic were just immense
Tony was just meh...

I'll vote Tony McCarroll. Everyone says he's shit, but I have no clue about any of the techical stuff. All I know is the drums on Live Forever are incredible and he seems like a nice guy from his autobiography.

That poll was made in Sept 2008. Chris was still pretty much unknown, to be fair. It's also a poll I missed as I never voted in it haha

1. Chris 2. Zak 3 Alan . . . . . 4 Tony couldn't have said it better. chris is the perfect fit for oasis/beady eye. he was the common ground between tony's almost punkish 2-4 beats, alan's jazzier style and zak's simply being zak fucking starkey. i'm not surprised to see zak not giving his due credit here, so let me say it. zak breathed new life into the songs. just listen to his drumming on rock 'n' roll star. he brought the power and an electricity not seen by the group in years... especially since whitey sounded incredibly listless during the heathen chemistry tour. plus, whitey can't say he was given drum lessons by keith fucking moon.

Zak is an awesome drummer, but his style was completely ill-suited for Oasis.
Chris was the best. Perfect fit. Alan and Tony were good enough to get the job done, but had nothing that any decent session drummer couldn't do.
