Decided to rediscover ISIS again now that I am much more open minded. One of the few bands who had to split because name.

Weezer - OK Human. Their best since the White album. And some Pinkerton in it. Updated for the smartphone era.

Oh really ? Lucky you ! Weezer blue album / Pinkerton to start. Pinkerton is a melancholic power pop masterpiece. If you like the white album and Ok Human then > Green album >>> all those records have quality bsides as well. After that it's hit or miss and records are uneven : Maladroit is kinda ok but the process was fun back then. They were publishing the demos and work in progress before the album release for free on the internet. Make Believe / The "Red Album" : ok-ish, like good EPs. Raditude and Hurley : meh, pass ! Everything Will Be Alright in the End : return to form White album : an album full of hit singles. one of their best record to date. Pacific Daydream : i love this record although it's universally hated. Like their BHN. The "Teal Album" : pass. The "Black Album" : a fun record that doesnt have any cohesive direction. But a few tunes worth listening. What i like about Weezer is that they do what they want and basically just want to have fun. If there is an album you dont like, there's always another one around the corner. They're also a bit suicidal, if they released an album every 3/4 years with their best songs, they would be way more seen as a great, great band.

Side B made me feel things I didn't know I could feel nhs is such a gorgeous piece of music. Reminds me of a song like Half the World Away, just that beautiful down-to-earth mix of sadness and optimism. Might be my favourite thing he's ever done, that one. Gonna give the album a full listen tomorrow.

Great comparison, that's exactly how I feel about it, there's such a melancholic feel to it It hit me when it was first released and still moves me now when every time I listen to it after a few months Probably my fave off the album alongside push and adhd

FOR THE FIRST TIME by BLACK COUNTRY, NEW ROADThe debut from London's most hyped punk-jazz-indie-fusion band (there aren't that many). It's a loud, dense forty minutes of mad vocals, trumpets, and eccentric lyrics. Personally I find it a bit hard to listen to it all in one sitting, but put any one track on at a time and you get one of the most unique sounds in music at the minute. I fucking love the nine-minute epic Sunglasses, which manages to be ambient and groovy and monstrous and catchy all in one track. Worth a listen, for sure. TYRON by SLOWTHAISecond album from Britain's flawed, loveable, manic rapper. It's put into two halves - the first aggressive and wild, the second introspective and calmer. Side A is good but a bit formless. Most tracks don't reach three minutes and often feel like great ideas for songs rather than great songs themselves - VEX and CANCELLED both have amazing beats, for instance, but just don't feel as fleshed out as they could be. But, man, Side B is one of the best runs of songs I've heard in a long time. I recommend anyone reading this to listen to it. The beats are wistful, the choruses are calming, and slowthai sounds so compelling on each and every one of them. It has that classic Oasis b-side feel; working-class, uplifting, sad, beautiful.

Been listening to Idles quite a lot lately. I am absolutely loving their debut Brutalism. It’s a Definitely Maybe level of scrappiness to it.
The newest one, Ultra Mono, im not that crazy about actually. There’s a handful of good tunes (I love Grounds, one of my favourites by this band) and there’s some good sounds on the record for sure but to me the songs aren’t really there. You can tell they’re pushed for inspiration.
That said, Idles are a great band with a lot to offer and a difficult third album happens. They’ll be back with a better one next, they just need to have the time to do so.

Black Country, New Road - For The First Time
If you sing like Isaac Wood(or was it Woods?), and if you write like Isaac Wood(s), you're walking on a tightrope. Just like he sounds to be on the verge of tears for every word he speaks, it also feels like the entire project could fall apart any moment because of the self indulgence simply becoming... a bit *too* much. It never does however. After all the guy is really witty, and when you risk starting to get a bit tired of him the rest of the band always make sure to keep you engaged with their sometimes wacky but super tight instrumentation. They do the wacky, but they also do the sombre and the frantic. There are a lot of cool transitions within the songs as well.
The way that they pull all of this off is that they simply refuse to let you get bored. Maybe their tricks won't work on everyone, but they sure worked on me. I don't love every track, but after hearing this album about 3-4 times I can say that it is more than adequate. I'm honestly inspired by this band and can't wait to see what they do next.

Radiohead - OK Computer
What an amazing sounding album. All the great(as in most of them) songs aside, the thought that sticks with me is hearing this for the first time not 10 years ago or so, but in 1997. Almost 25 years later, and Subterranean Homesick Alien still sounds futuristic.
And I also noticed this time that I must have been ignoring Lucky during previous listens. How?! Feel free to put me up against the wall, Thom.
