- London Town by Wings (1978)
The words are quite good on this one; you can tell Macca was trying. Off first listen I liked 'Girlfriend' the most.

I was gonna whip out Flowers in the Dirt and Venus and Mars this week to get ready for McCartney III!

First listen I didn't get the praise, this washed over me while I was in a miserable state in all honesty. But slowly this album has dug its way into my heart, every song falling into place at a certain time of reflection, always at the right time. No songwriter comes close to understanding the human condition like Springsteen. Whether it's through his acute observations of others, his personal experiences or political viewpoints, it's all very empathetic and unnervingly intuitive into the trouble and strife of every individual. And yet despite going deep into miserabilist territory, he's always life affirming, with a sense of hope and renewal in every thing he does. In troubled times, he's the only thing that makes sense.

I was thinking about whether I should pick this one up or give it a listen first but you’ve convinced me it’s worth the while. I quite like Springsteen’s work but I’m not as familiar with it all as you are. This one, from what little I’ve heard, sounds like classic Springsteen records.

The Smiths - the Queen is Dead
Also Ryan Adams self titled from 2014 I think. It’s a really strong record. One of his top 3 I would say, along with Love is Hell and 29.

On this fine Halloween day I felt like listening to Wilco’s best of What’s Your 20 double album.
It proved to be a good choice.

(What's the Story) Morning Glory?
Man, every song on this album could've been a hit of some sort. Immaculate songwriting, great arrangements, great use of influences, and songs that will live forever. I don't think I can rank MG or DM one over the other. They each serve a certain purpose and do fucking amazing at serving their purpose that they co-exist at the top so well. Wow. I think MG is more significant culturally but you don't get that without first having DM, which itself made an impact of its own.
Kendrick Lamar is a present-day equivalent of that, with Good Kid, Maad City and To Pimp a Butterfly. They each serve their own purpose amazingly and while TPAB is more culturally significant, you don't get that without first having GKMC.
To think, our boys did DM and MG one year after another. Insane, especially considering the progression in sound.
Time to revisit Be Here Now next...

Jarvis Cocker - Beyond the Pale (all good) Smashing Pumpkins - Cyr (half good) Be Here Now earlier, then Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, and now Heathen Chemistry. Revisiting the boys' discography. I love when that happens. Like a trip in the past. And once you started, you gotta put them all on.

I got memories of listening to those albums real late at night at my parents' old house and trying to jam out while also not getting reprimanded for having the volume too loud. Good times.

I was doing the same, but from 5 to 7pm Basically taught myself the guitar playing on BHN. Good times indeed.
