1 - It was determined that the plan to fix the ozone hole backfired. The new coolants they are using in air conditioning and refrigeration to replace fluorocarbons are actually 4000+% more dangerous that CO2 in warming the planet. Why is this GOOD news? The fact that they did ZIP to fix the ozone hole wasn't important. The original goal was to eliminate air conditioning and large refrigerators. They are not only back on track to realize that goal, but it makes our need to reduce carbon that much more critical.
2 - India said "thanks, but no thanks" to our secretary of state re: agreeing to hard reductions in carbon emissions. Again, it is now even more critical for the west to reduce carbon emissions. That'll get them more tax deductible donations and press.
So you ask: "But wait a minute Chemist. Doesn't this make for a BAD week for global warming alarmists"? That's why it is so critical that I'm here and have this forum to speak the truth. The alarmists don't care about carbon. They care about western leadership in industry and society. They want to crush our industrial leadership and make a level playing field. They want to prove that capitalism was bad and the root of all evil in the world. They want to eliminate the use of fossil fuels regardless of cost or intent. It makes the alarm even stronger and more important.
A good week indeed, and it's only Tuesday.

that's right! fuck the penguins! No, the Penguins are OK. The inconvenient truth is that some parts of the globe have been cooler than others. You only hear about the warmer parts though. That's why we see those pictures of polar bears on little floating ice chunks (the presumption being that the little ice chunk is the only piece of land they can build a little bear home on and it's almost gone. I get teary eyed just thinking about it). No, the antarctic temps have been just fine, thanks, and the penguins have plenty to eat.

What's funny is that we're going to ship still more manufacturing jobs to India and China. Industry that would have contined in the US with the strict environmental laws. Instead it will go to naions tht have NO PROBLEM with unscrubbed smokestacks, spewing all types of chemicals into rivers and streams, ZERO regard for workers safey. In our futile attempt to control "climate change" we will actually make things worse than if we did NOTHING.
But I forget. We don't get the smug self-satisfaction when we do nothing. Environment be damned. It's all symbolism anyhow.

in the end the human species will disappear, money will be useless and the planet will still be circling around the sun, happy that we're all gone
