OK, so I hear and read about this man's greatness and genius musical abilities. I download Born in the U.S.A and am a bit underwhelmed. His discography is freaking huge so I need someone to tell me what should I get first. Thankyou

Well you kinda started with the wrong album there, too slick and with too many synths and repetitive as hell...the damn thing sounded dated even in 1984 lol
Anyway, I haven't listened to his complete discography but I've listened a good chunk of it and I'd recommend you to listen as follows:
Born To Run (my personal fave and absolute must!) Darkness On The Edge Of Town The Rising The Wild, The Innocent, And The E Street Shuffle The River
As for live albums: Hammersmith Odeon London '75 is pure brilliance!
I'd stay away from his mid 80's - 90's era, is awful.

I've got all the records. Here's where you want to go. You need to own these two records: Born to Run & Darkness on the Edge of Town. You will not be able to skip a song on these records.
If you dig that, get The River. It's a dual disc. It contains Bruce's first number #1, Hungry Heart.
THe Rising & Magic are also must owns for a modern E-street band.
If you want something acoustic, stripped down, get Nebraska. Standout track is Atlantic City.

I saw him in Hartford in April. Sorry to say but I was somewhat underwhelmed. I think he has a lot of talent but it does not connect with me. I found it to be somewhat cheesy. I saw Weller in September of 08 and that was my benchmark for the Springsteen show. I think both artists have a lot in common but Weller blew Springsteen out of water. There is an age gap but Weller reinvents his songs where I feel Springsteen is playing on nostalgia.
