Crowds wearing anti-swine flu surgical masks greet the Gallaghers Hundreds of Peruvian fans headed to Lima airport in Peru to greet Oasis on Wednesday (April 29) – with many surgical mask-wearing fans saying they prioritised welcoming the Gallaghers over any potential swine flu risk. Although many were wearing the masks as a precaution, they told journalists that making sure the Manchester legends had a welcome party was "way more important" than the risk of catching the disease, reports Livinginperu.com. Singer Liam Gallagher was appreciative of the gesture, waving to fans as he arrived at the airport. Oasis were in Peru to play a gig at the Lima National Stadium, and will continue their tour in South America before heading back to the UK in preparation for gigs in June. Guitarist Noel Gallagher admitted in his blog he was curious about the band's visit as they had never been to the country before. "I've never been. Have you? What's it like? Are there Irish bars? Surely there must be?" he wrote, before adding. "Ain't got that pig flu yet, by the way. Give it time though." Source: www.nme.com
