To kill time in waiting for DOYS, I was browsing a lot of gigs dating back to 94 and I found performances off DM that IMO destroy anything Oasis has done. I know there's There and Then, and Live by the Sea, but at the metro oasis had this punk attitude musically. It sounded raw as hell (especially on drums and guitars) and Liam's vocals were indeed "godlike" Here's a link to Slide away (there's about 8 other songs)

I personally believe that Earls Court 95 was their best gig. All the tracks were great (except for the fact that morning glory and wonderwall were acoustic), Liam's voice was mint, all around great gig... But Chicago Metro 94 is fucking great as well. Listening to it earlier today as a matter of fact.

At the end of Wetlands, they play I Am The Walrus. Some guy in the crowd says "wow, that was like the beatles playing an oasis song!!". Class.

Not their greatest gig ever, but it's the one I go back to when I'm in the mood for some raw, unfiltered early Oasis.
(sorry for reviving a thread from 16 years ago!)

Not their greatest gig ever, but it's the one I go back to when I'm in the mood for some raw, unfiltered early Oasis. (sorry for reviving a thread from 16 years ago!) Same. It’s a great gig and example of the early sound. The Maine Road gigs will always be the greatest for me though. The late 95-early 96 stuff is the band at its peak imo. Everyone was on top of their game. The setlists were great. Liam’s best voice. And it sounded massive.
