Don't think this has been posted already. Sorry if it has: ---------- New Music: Oasis: "The Shock of the Lightning" [MP3] Once again, Oasis leaves it to us, the humble audience, to determine whether they're in on the joke or just as lunkheaded as they sound. Trickling out right in the leaky wake of blustery Noel anthem "Falling Down" is... blustery Noel anthem (and latest single) "The Shock of the Lightning", also from the upcoming Dig Out Your Soul. The surging, slightly ominous guitar changes are strikingly similar to those on Supergrass's "Richard III", from 1997's In It for the Money and the lively Brit rockers' 2004 best-of, although Oasis, stodgy as ever, pile on organ instead of Theremin. Sample lyric: "Love is a litany/ A magical mystery." Come on, sing along-- you already know this one, and it is kind of catchy. Just please note it's not called "The Shock of the New". (via Dead Flowers and Whatever I Say) MP3:> Oasis: "The Shock of the Lightning" [from Dig Out Your Soul; due 10/06/08 in the UK and 10/07/08 on Big Brother] Posted by Marc Hogan on Fri, Aug 15, 2008 at 10:40am www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/download/144698-new-music-oasis-the-shock-of-the-lightning-mp3

I'm amazed that Pitchfork holds some sway as they hardly talk about the music in reviews. It's 2 paragraphs of self-referential garbage, one paragraph briefly mentioning a song or two, and then another 1 or 2 paragraphs of self-referential garbage.
And they do suck a lot of indie and Radiohead cock.

kid a is a masterpiece. pitchfork DOES have a lot of cred. they don't like oasis. and i don't care that they don't. Their "cred" is unwarranted. They have it because their site attracts all of the stuck up their own asses indie crowd who are so full of themselves that other people begin to think the assholes actually know two-shits about anything. And I can see why some people like Kid A (actually, I can't, but that's besides the point), but have you read their fucking review for it?

Kid A is bullshit. Thom Yorke sounds as if he's singing in the bath. That's Radiohead for you - if Yorke farted into a microphone for a whole album it would be praised for its 'artistic genius'. Total bullshit.

How does it always come back to Radiohead! Maybe live4ever should just have a Radiohead section in it and be done with it!

they have a massive anti-oasis bias in all their oasis reviews so don't bother with them. but for the record, plenty of people take them seriously. even me sometimes i.e. when they are extremely passionate (in a positive way) about a record.

^ Ha, I just read those reviews, they are without a doubt the harshest reviews I've ever read on Oasis. I like the Heathen Chem one, they are that unintrested in it they don't even take the time to write a proper review! They are obviously there to provoke and be a bit different, I say fair play to them. I've used the site in the past and found it alright, this is the first time I've read the Oasis reviews though!
Is this just one of those things where they know that little about them, they are't willing to give them a chance? They are more in to their far out indie crazy stuff I think. Arcade fire and the like.
