I know some of what I am thinking regarding the deluxe version has been brought up but I figured id air my thoughts. I am on the fence on wether or not to order it. 100$ is a helluva lot of money. Especially when it can be put toward their upcoming concerts.
I started thinking about the book that comes with it. What is the possibility that the book is just a nicer quality, hardbound version of the booklet that will already come with the regular cd. As for the dvd. They should post the running length of the making of dvd. What If the making of video is only around 5 mins long like the video that came with the enhanced DBTT cd. If that were the case then the only real thing that makes it worthwhile is the bonus cd with 9 tracks. Problem with that is what If all those tracks are released as the b-sides for this album. I collect their singles and that would be a total waste for me, plus the majority of the bonus cd is remixes and a few are multiple remixes of the same track or an alt. version. Basically I would like the opportunity to make an informed decision before plunking down $100 on this deluxe set, which were not being given. I would hate to drop $100 and then find out that all that bonus stuff is included in a more affordable stripped down version without the book and records.

I can see your position perfectly. You're not any less of a fan if you don't buy this. Its pricey and the stuff that is included is not going to be useful to a lot of the people ordering it.
Personally, I havent ordered it yet. I am tempted to, but the fact that I would never play the vinyl and most of the "bonus" disc songs will be released elsewhere (or will be able to be downloaded illegally) lets me know that at the very least, Ill hear those songs.
I can see where you're coming from on content. The book is one of the more interesting pieces, but from all indications it seems to be exactly what you described. An enlarged "fancier" booklet, probably with some exclusive photos and arty presentations of the lyrics. The biggest selling point to me was the extra material, but even that is becoming less and less exclusive and will be able to be gotten elsewhere.
The Turning Alt version #4 and I Believe in All are now the confirmed bonus tracks on the Jap version of the record (according to hmv.co.jp).
that leaves:
2. The Turning (The Jagz Kooner Remix) 3. Boy With The Blues 5. The Shock Of The Lightning (The Jagz Kooner Remix) 7. To Be Where There's Life (A Richard Fearless Production) 9. Waiting For The Rapture (Alt Version#2)
as the only tracks not being released anywhere else off the bonus disc, as of today, and really, I am much less interested in the remixes/different versions than I am in Boy With the Blues.
The chance of these tracks being released elsewhere is very very high. I don't believe for a second that TSOTL is the "new" way of Oasis doing singles and beleive that there is only one b-side on that because its a special b-side with a high profile artist contributing to Oasis' music (Chemical Bros).
Another point is that Ive not heard the record yet. Now all indications are that this album is going to be good, but the fact of the matter is that even Oasis fans disagree on what is good in their catalog and what isnt. I personally cant stand Heathen Chemistry, and if I had bought something like this for HC, Id feel ripped off.
I have the money, so thats not the issue, but outside of it sitting on a shelf collecting dust, when I know that Id still buy a regular CD version for the car and to rip for my iPod (I will not buy it from iTunes), I just dont see the point in getting something Im not going to get what I put into it out of it, especially when the exclusives (my main interest point) are becoming less and less exclusive by the day.
I dont knock the band for doing this. I think its a cool piece, but I personally dont want it.

When I first saw the super deluxe edition I thought oh I gotta have this. But then once I got control of myself I started thinking more and more about it. For over the past 12 years I have bought every single Oasis have released. And I plan on getting the singles for this cd as well to keep my collection complete. But I would be really pissed if the extra tracks on this bonus cd turn out to be the future b-sides for this album. For me the records are a waste of space and I have no need for them. Also the CD's look like they do not come in a nice protective jewel case but instead are inserted into a paper sleeve bound within the book. I am not a fan of that. The DVD is something I would defintley be interested in (not for 100$) but there is no indication on runtime. I just wish there was more info on their other plans for this album and I wish the running length of the bonus content was released so that the fans could make an informed decision. That is all I want.

you make an excelente point!
when i first saw the deluxe version, i was like, im getting this, but its real expensive, and i personally dont care about the heavyweight LPs
i like the book, and the dvd and the bonus cd, but like all of you have pointed, i have all the singles, dvds, cds, everything, and it will probably be a waste of money getting the deluxe version its all the songs on the bonus disc are the bsides of the next singles, probably they will be
i will wait a little longer to see what other versions of the new cd will be out for sale, i hear somewhere that for this new album they will have the normal version, a deluxe version (that should be this one), a special edition, and others

I have ordered this, as i buy every album on both cd and vinyl.
But can see why it wouldn't appel to others.
On hmv.co.uk, they are listing a cd version that has the the dvd included.
And like you say, the other disc may be raleased as b-sides, or deffinitely be available on-line somewhere.

My biggest concern around the whole Super Deluxe thing, is will they use the songs on the bonus cd for b-sides? In my opinion, that wouldn't be fair to those who have ordered the Super Deluxe version (Myself included).
With that being said, I didn't get this just for the bonus cd. I'm a Oasis collector, and I want this in my collection. It's a unique release, which looks amazing, and you also got a ton of music, and films included. I think it's worth its money, and I've always wanted Oasis to release a thing like this.

I'm worried about it getting lost or damaged in the mail. What do you do then?
Personally, if this is limited edition, I can't see the originally released songs not turning out to be the album's b-sides later on, especially TBWTB. But of course, they have you thinking if you wait too long, this will sell out and go up in value, and you'll have to pay an even more obscene amount of money just to keep your hard copy collection of everything the've released up to date.
And I agree with the point about the CDs not being in a jewel case so you have to open up the book and whatnot just to hear them. In that case, I'd just end up ripping the bonus CD to listen to on my PC and be stuck with a fancy expensive box that just sits there collecting dust.

But of course, they have you thinking if you wait too long, this will sell out and go up in value, and you'll have to pay an even more obscene amount of money just to keep your hard copy collection of everything the've released up to date. Theres a reason why shipping is so high. It could get damaged, but then you return it and hope they have some left. Theres always that chance it gets ruined, but you cant let it bother you, its like worrying about a storm when theres a 30% chance of rain. When it was first announced I assumed it would be totally exclusive (the bonus disc), but this is proving to be contrary in regards to this thing. Firstly, 2 of the songs on it will already have been released prior to this (LDSMD, Falling Down remix), on release day, 2 more get released on the Japanese version and iTunes (I Believe In All, The Turning alt #4). That leaves 5 possibly exclusive tracks (4 of which are remixes or alt versions), however with 3 more singles to come out, its almost obvious at this point that more of these songs will be used as b-sides. If they go back to 2 b-sides on the singles starting with Im Outta Time (good possibility), thats 6 more tunes this "era". Guaranteed some more of the bonus disc tracks will make it out there in other forms. Theres also the chance that they do a re-release of DOYS months after the initial release with extra tracks. This is a common practice to juice more sales. Oasis has proven in the past they dont leave much exclusivity out there. In fact, the only track in recent years that has stayed somewhat exclusive is I Can See It Now, which to this point has only been released on the Jap version of DBTT (outside of the original 1 track promo).
