I've only been into Oasis for a year or so now, but I don't think there's been as much hype about this Oasis album since Be Here Now. Am I right?
I've read previews suggesting the album is one of their very best and is right up there, while a French magazine said it's their best.
Should I believe the hype, because I don't want to be dissapointed.

BELIEVE what youve heard, This album should be pretty mega. Im Mad Fer It already with TSOTL and Falling Down. I think this album has more hype than Dont Believe the Truth and Heathen Chemistry did. This is probably the most hyped album by Oasis since Be Here Now. I have yet to see one bad review about the album. And It seems like Noel and Liam are really into it again. Liams voice has really cleared up, Noel is inspired once again. Its gonna a very succesfull album and Tour.

All I can say is hope so.
It's true that there is a lot of hype but I think most of it is to do with how successful Don't Believe The Truth album and tour was. It was genuine return to form. DBTT is their best album since Be Here Now no matter anyone says on this forum (most don't like it).
Believe the hype because I personally think they will continue their form and "Dig Out Your Soul" will be a belter!

Well, the NME did say it is a 'huge step forward from DBTT'

BHN was released in the summer. I always thought of BHN as a summer album, even though it came out right as September was rolling around in the States (8/26). DYKWIM? was out since early July at that time as an import single, which of course I bought the first day it was available. I had heard the album previewed on a radio station as well and had taped the show well before the August 26th US release date, so maybe it's mostly my experience with it, but songs like DYKWIM?, MBM, IGBM, are all summer tunes in my mind as a result. Of course, Don't Go Away and All Around the World are more autumn tunes for me because those videos didn't hit MTV until later (wow, I used to watch MTV and see videos occasionally...).
This is being released a full six weeks after BHN was in terms of timeline (late August vs. early October), but w/ the internet being a lot more vast than it was in 1997, and leaked albums frequently appearing online well before release dates these days, DOYS will probably still be remembered as a summer album to me.

I think as far as the hype goes, it says something that this album is being hyped now that Sony is out of the picture and Noel can finally focus on Big Brother. In other words, it must be good, and the positive reviews don't hurt. Sony hyped DBTT in the States a lot more than any of the three previous albums because it was their last chance to show Oasis they would promote them here before the contract expired. Didn't anyone else notice that Oasis played much larger venues than their previous outings (besides the Tour of Brotherly Love, which was co-headlined by the Black Crowes)? Let's see, during the SOTSOG tour, they played the Orpheum in Boston, a few thousand people. Heathen Chemistry they didn't even hit Boston but they were scheduled to play a fairly small venue, I think Bank of America pavilion. Suddenly, DBTT comes out and they filled the Tweeter Center by themselves (they had previously played their during the Brotherly Love tour). They could have filled the bigger venues the entire time out, but Sony didn't promote them nearly enough.

DBTT is their best album since Be Here Now no matter anyone says on this forum (most don't like it). get real. It may be the newest and therefor most intresting but SOTSOG is miles better. HC is better as well. You cant even compare a song like SCYHO to the stuff on DBTT. It is a totally different league. You cant compare FD or TSOTL with DBTT either. DBTT will be Oasis weakest album ever I hope.

There is definte hype and expectation, but mostly only among the fanbase. Most music listeners probably couldn't give a fuck.
The hype will NEVER reach BHN proportions. The country was going absolutely insane for that record when it came out. Oasis-mania was at its peak.

bhn hype was a totally diff level. it was massivly hyped in the us.. every record shop had special promo gear all over the place. i remember walking in the village in nyc and the whole sidewalk had be here now stickers on it, with arrows, leading you to a record store.. you odn't even see shit like now-a-days for domestic acts.. it was massive everywhere.
