You may not like the song, but the lyrics to STC to me seem almost unquestionably great, and beyond criticism. "It's about, a dream I had one night. It's wondering about if you were dead, how would you know you were actually dead, how would you know you were actually alive. When you go to bed and you dream dreams... if you never woke up, how would you know? Maybe we're all just dreaming now." EXACTLY. It's not a unique topic, but it's an interesting one because none of us know the answer. And it's definetly never/rarely been addressed in rock songs. The lyrics are far from a cliche you can get

Perhaps if I was as finicky about this argument as you are, I'd pick out every two-word long phrase and present it as a 'cliche', just to prove my point. Problem is, I'd be here all fucking night. Read them again, will you, and try applying the same logic to Stop The Clocks as you did to Viva La Vida. No cliches? You, my friend, ought to be fucking sectioned.

You say the song is so good so get the title right. if you kept reading, you'll see i changed my mind. first listen i was impressed, now that i think about it its a good tune, but not amazing or mind blowing or anything. To put it in Oasis terms, it's a Don't Go Away song not a Live Forever/Slide Away tune...good, solid, but not class

Call me crazy, but I don't think it's as good an opener single as Speed of Sound. That tune just really got me and the music video for it was brilliant. Good song, don't get me wrong, just didn't capture me.

You're spot on. Problem being Viva La Vida isn't the first single, Violet Hill is.
(although, having said that, Violet Hill's not as good as Speed Of Sound either)

Viva la Vida is miles better than Stop the Clocks or any of the demos, or whatever they are. Not a fan of Violet hill though.

Cemeteries of London is good Lost and Vida la Viva are nice, but FUCKING CLICHES
42, Yes, and Violet Hills are just fucking irritating
It's an ok album. Same as X+Y. Exactly what I expected - nothing mind blowing
Oasis on the other hand i'm expecting a monumental album

"You thought you might be a ghost. You didn't get to heaven but you made it close"..."Those who are dead are not dead, they are just living in my head"
That's suppose to be brilliant? Don't EVER tell me that Oasis' DEMO version of STC is worse than Coldplay's crap.

Cemeteries of London: 10/10 Lost: 8/10 42: 6/10 Lovers in Japan: 7/10 Yes: 6/10 Viva La Vida: 7/10 Violet Hills: 5/10 Strawberry Song: 6/10 Death and All His Friends: 10/10
Not a bad album, just not good either. Average is the best word to describe it. It's not going to win album of the year. - Let's see what the big boys do, ie U2 (although i do hate U2) and Oasis
My album ranking:
1.) AROBTTH: 5/5 2.) Parachutes: 4/5 3.) VLV: 3/5 3.) X+Y: 3/5
