NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Consumers can expect retail gas prices to rise to $4 a gallon soon, but whether they stay there depends on the long-term damage to oil facilities from Hurricane Katrina, oil and gas analysts said Wednesday. "There's no question gas will hit $4 a gallon," Ben Brockwell, director of pricing at the Oil Price Information Service, said. "The question is how high will it go and how long will it last?"

^^ Reason Bush is oil man and oil investor.... It's why we're in Iraq to get control second largest oil reserve in the world....
It's 2.84 here and it's a reason one of many reasons why I quit my job.. It requires a lot of driving and not much pay.. Which wasn't bad when I first started back when it was $1.17, but now it's too much, plus my job won't pay me for the mileage...

Our gas is already at $3.59/gallon
Katrina slammed into the Gulf and shut down nearly all of the Gulf of Mexico's oil production...we're all screwed. I'm not driving anymore. I can no longer afford to pay for gas, and I have a small car.
My friend drives a huge excursion and it costs her $100 to fill it up.

read everyone's posts.. yes caro is right.. i am willing to pay more for gas... i just am.. we're in for a ride.. suck it up people.. here's where it starts to hit the pocketbooks of everyone and maybe the natives will get a little bit wrestless. stems back to my basic theory of - change won't come about til ppl can no longer afford to drive their trucks, pay for cable tv, buy nascar tics, and will hv less money for 6 packs etcetc..

I agree with you about the change thing....everyone says why don't we use another means of transportation or fuel...but no one's going to research it or actually do it until we've completely expended/can no longer afford to use what we already have...

food prices, lights, clothing, and everything else will cost more too, because it cost companies more to drive shipments

and cars running with electricity or gas... some scientists have even developped motors which work with compressed air or oil extracted from colza... but oil lobbies and cars manufacturers just do everything to prevent the research going on...

Gas is sitting at around $1.34/litre here in Canada
Stupid thing is, the cost of oil per barrel is up something like 20 cents
That doesn't translate to a 33% jump at pumps.

1.40 € per liter (4.24 dollar per gallon) and rising in germany.
1 gallon = 3,785 liter
part of the press wants our chancellor schröder to use emergency reserves.
