I love it. it's different, but it's still great. I wasnt expecting anythig like the first 3 records anyways (one can dream though). I think Mucky Fingers is Velvets/Dylan and a bit of Pulp thrown in. Let there be love is much better than the demo, great attempt at a beatle-esque 1964 epic ender. Keeo the dream alive is a great tune, very very Only The Strongest Will Survive.
The highlight of the new tunes for me would be Meaning of Soul. It sounds much better than it did live. Paul Weller-ish acoustic riffs, great punching beat, and it's about time Gem did backing vocals alone! Gem is such a graet singer, it's about time they let him sing alone.
I think Lyla is the weakest track thus far. I ;ove it all though. Cant wait for the rest!!
Lyla- TSOOL covering Sloan Let There Be Love- Beatles 1965 Meaning Of Soul- Iggy Pop writer, Paul Weller guitar (think Thats Entertainment) Keep the Dream Alive- Andy Bell writing a song for 13th Floor Elevator with the Beatles as backing vocals Mucky Fingers- Velvets (obviously) meet Dylan and a splash of Pulp's Common People

No-one seems to care when songs like "Writing to Reach You" by Travis rip off Oasis, or likewise for Greenday's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Who cares who's songs Oasis rearrange as long as it sounds good?

i agree! "writing to reach you" intro is just like "wonderwall" pretty much. still a great song though...fuck they even mention it within the song.but no one mentions travis. and not a soul fucking ever says anything about cobain doing it. i also saw an interview one time with pete townshend ( of the who if anyone somehow didn't know) and he had 2 or 3 of their albums in his hand and he just went through almost every song and said where he "borrowed" it from. but not a soul says anything about them. not to mention a thing i read where Zeppelin mentions that "stairway to heaven" is a picking of the chords of "something" by The Beatles , just switched around. so shut up with the "stealing crap". almost everyone does it !

Mucky Fingers sounds a little bit like "Take the Skinheads Bowling" by Camper van Beethoven... or am I crazy?
