Lately I've been trying to get that certain guitar sound that is on certain post-punk songs which are mostly early stuff from Siouxsie and the Banshees ("Hong Kong Garden"), U2 ("I Will Follow", "Sunday Bloody Sunday"), and Public Image Limited ("Public Image", "Death Disco", "Careering"). If anyone knows how to get that kind of sound out of your guitar, please let me know. Thanks.

personally, i have an epiphone noel gallagher supernova (if anyone wants one, just get a sheraton II, it's cheaper and basically the same thing) and a 120watt Vox valvetronix VTX. It's pretty easy for me to get it. Put on a plate reverb and probably chorus, reduce the bass a bit and up the treble, take down excess distortion, and then just play around with the minute details. Works for my setup at least.

you'd probably want a clean guitar for that sound (i'd say a fender telecaster or jazzmaster would work perfectly). i'm not sure about which amp is best, but i'd go with a vox for that sound.
