Paul McCartney easily the best. Just listen to Revolver or Sgt. Peppers his lines are just as melodic as Johns or Georges guitars. ex Fixing A Hole, Paperback Writer

Hi Oasis fans. First time poster here. Anyhow, I would agree if you said that Paul wrote the best bass lines ever, but I can't agree that he's the best player ever. I doubt he could ever keep up with Jimmy Pages solo in "Dazed and Confused" like John Paul Jones used to have to do for 10 or 15 minutes straight. It takes more than stamina to do that!

now we're talking! paul mccartney made the CATCHIEST bass lines, john paul jones was the musician, and john entwistle was just the greatest bass player ever.

No votes for Mani then? well, I think he's great though there are many, but he was in Stone Roses and now Primal Scream, he must be doing something right!

Novoselic? Really? He were a bag of wank just played the root notes of kurts barre chords? What was great about that? 1) It wasn't an Oasis type setup like with Guigsy playing root notes and Boneheads barre chords to create a complete wall of sound - Kurt played powerchords, even when they played acoustic 2) Krist played some of the catchiest bass lines of the 90's in a very important band often the quiet verse loud chorus formula with Nirvana was so well perfected because of his playing during the verses and Kurts powerchords and Dave Grohls amazing drumming for the chorus perfecting the formula 3) Listen to Heart-Shaped Box, Kurt said Nirvana were ready to scrap this tune as it "wasn't quite right" until Krist came up with some of his best bass work for the song they then decided to keep it and release it as a single
