Just bought a New Dell PC, so ive been trying to get all my music, photos etc over to the new PC from the old, so i installed a new network card in the old PC, so i could connext the Two by Ethernet cable (Im pretty sure this is one of the cables that you can do this with) but i can't dectect the PC from either end, and ive no idea what to do, i think i possibly need a driver for the old one for the network card to get working, or at least enable it, which ive no idea how to do
Everything I've ever downloaded depends on it - HELP!

Dom if you have an external hard drive, then it would be easier using that - just copy all your files onto the drive, plug it into your new PC and copy them over.
If you are going down the ethernet route, then that . involves setting up a local domain and sharing the folder you want the other PC to access - or dumping them in the shared folder.
To do this:
Start > Control Panel > Network Setup Wizard... follow simple instructions.
Also dont copy the whole lot over at once break it up into smaller chunks of files - nothing worse than it going wrong and having to work out what's gone over and what's not.
Hope this helps.

why don't you try connecting them to each other with a USB cable? to do that you'll need a special usb cable called a usb bridge cable (normal ones won't work). It'll probably look something like: if you use that it will probably be much faster than by doing through your ethernet.

I know when I was moving files to my new laptop I was able to just use a firewire cable, but seeing as you have a dell I was look around for its pc counterpart and all I found was an IEEE cable, Sony also made a similar thing called the i.LINK. It may work the same way as firewire, in which case you would just plug the two computers together and move files, but I'm not sure if it does, so this may not help at all. In any case good luck.

You will probably have to go into "Network and Internet Connections" first, then the network wizard is in there.

I always use Copypod for getting music off my ipod too computer. You can usually find a version with a keygen on a torrent site.
